Atheist News Podcast Project

Hey guys.

I probably shouldn't put this off anymore, so I'm just going to jump on it and improvise. I'm pretty sure the show is over. It was a ton of fun doing it, but with work and my son and my wife in school I simply don't have time to do it anymore.

Other folks have offered to take over but I don't really feel comfortable with that. Quit while you're ahead, sez I.

Anyhow, I payed for another year of hosting, so the archive of podcasts will be available for at least that long.

I really enjoyed podcasting, so I might do something again in the future. I'll keep you posted.

Thanks guys and gals! It was AMAZING.

Love,

--Joe

It looks like the purpose of the article is to be a teaser for the book.  A discovery made in 2010, now being reported on.  If it WAS the tomb of Jesus, then either Jesus left the tomb, or he was buried in it.  I guess if he left the tomb they might have put some stuff in there that said "Jesus was here".  If he was buried in it, then the resurrection was not what we were taught.  They are claiming that Jesus was buried in it.  In fact, they are claiming that one ossuary contained the bones of Jesus' son Judah.  Maybe he's in a "lost book of the bible", locked somewhere deep in the Vatican basement so that the world's catholics will not doubt.  That would mean, of course, that Jesus had sex.  I looked at a variety of websites about this find, and I still can't escape that it's all what JP states, tenuous coincidences and wishful thinking.

Yeah, I've heard about these before. They're complete bullshit. They stretch the most tenuous coincidences and fill in the HUGE gaps with wishful thinking.

What does "evidence of faith" mean?

Comment by Sandi on February 29, 2012 at 6:39am

Something, something about discovering where jesus may have been buried, possibly.

"The discovery provides the earliest archaeological evidence of faith in Jesus' resurrection from the dead, the first witness to a saying of Jesus that predates even the writing of our New Testament gospels, and the earliest example of Christian art, all found in a sealed tomb dated to the 1st century CE."

Ye Gads! What will people dream up next for a new religion and beliefs?  I think we are better off going back to nature and just paying attention to what we do, how it affects our environment and our community, and then be more compassionate!

Comment by Tony Carroll on February 28, 2012 at 1:19pm

David, you are completely right. I was just trying to explain how it is taught to Mormons and in their theology. Sorry for any misunderstanding.

These Baptisms have NO effect, period.

Jessica, you are welcome to claim the "Perdition" name as you wish!  We could also add a scouting version, and call it "The Children of Perdition".  You are right, the baptising of dead people is creepy, meaningless, and a strange sort of intrusion into other families lives.  I would also like to hear about why there is such a focus on holocaust victims.

Comment by Jessica Berman on February 28, 2012 at 10:44am
LOL if you do start a club can there be Daughters too?
Comment by Jessica Berman on February 28, 2012 at 10:41am
Just out of curiosity do you know why Holocaust victims are of special interest? Having relatives whose time, date and location of murder by the SS are publicly available online I wonder about them. Even though I know it's meaningless I find the idea of Mormons secretly baptizing them creepy and insulting. Is there a list kept? Also who decides which people are baptized?
