Atheist News Podcast Project

Hey guys.

I probably shouldn't put this off anymore, so I'm just going to jump on it and improvise. I'm pretty sure the show is over. It was a ton of fun doing it, but with work and my son and my wife in school I simply don't have time to do it anymore.

Other folks have offered to take over but I don't really feel comfortable with that. Quit while you're ahead, sez I.

Anyhow, I payed for another year of hosting, so the archive of podcasts will be available for at least that long.

I really enjoyed podcasting, so I might do something again in the future. I'll keep you posted.

Thanks guys and gals! It was AMAZING.

Love,

--Joe

Ian, but in the standard "good cowboy" myth, John Wayne NEVER hits the bad guy first...no matter how repugnant he is.

I stole that idea from a column Spider Robinson wrote for the Toronto Globe and Mail in 2003. Guess what he was referring to.

Here we go again.   = 8 (

It seems to me that countries continue to believe in their own myths, no matter what evidence there is to the contrary.

America: if the "good" cowboy stands up to and shoots the "baddies" at high noon on Main Street the grateful townsfolk will come running to thank him as their problems are now solved forever.

Britain: send in a gunboat or a few planes, fire off a few shells and the ignorant "darkies" will run back to the hills and stop causing trouble.

Denmark: the issue doesn't matter, just as long as we get picked as a makeweight by the Big Boys for their team. We've been noticed!

Oh, one more thing. Poison gas in Damascus? That's what Winston Churchill suggested in 1919 as a method for keeping the uppity natives in their place

That sounds a lot like the sort of thing I rail against.  Absolute certainty is a worthless standard to hold a claim to.  Any but the most dishonest theists (mostly the presuppositional apologetics idiots) admit to some degree of uncertainty in everything.  You can't know anything with absolute confidence, when you come right down to it.

It's stupid to expect absolute certainty from atheists, when you don't maintain that standard for anything else.  Forget default atheism, which is sufficient to embrace the label of atheist.  I'm a strong atheist, at least in regards to the Abrahamic god.  I'm positive that the god they worship doesn't exist, to any degree that it's worth worrying about certainty.

I don't believe it's been tested in the courts, yet.  Seems to me that the whole voucher program is unconstitutional, on first amendment grounds.  The government giving money to send kids to religious schools seems like an obvious violation.

I don't know that the courts will rule that way.

I have a question that has come to mind through communication. It has to do with Separation of Church and State. School Vouchers. The State of Louisiana does School Vouchers. This 2 me means as a taxpayer My taxes go 2 Public ,Private and Parochial Schools where Vouchers are concerned. What happens when P & R Schools have more Vouchers than Paying Parents? Is Louisiana paying for baby sitting with taxpayers $'s&cents?
