Atheist News Podcast Project

Hey guys.

I probably shouldn't put this off anymore, so I'm just going to jump on it and improvise. I'm pretty sure the show is over. It was a ton of fun doing it, but with work and my son and my wife in school I simply don't have time to do it anymore.

Other folks have offered to take over but I don't really feel comfortable with that. Quit while you're ahead, sez I.

Anyhow, I payed for another year of hosting, so the archive of podcasts will be available for at least that long.

I really enjoyed podcasting, so I might do something again in the future. I'll keep you posted.

Thanks guys and gals! It was AMAZING.

Yeah, I kinda realized quite a bit after the fact I made a freudian misspelling.

But hey, fission has its place in the grand scheme! It's kind of like worshiping a saint next to the true trinity, right? Right? ;-)

@Jo Jerome
Hate to be picky, but it is hydrogen, carbon and FUSION. Fusion builds up to heavier elements, fission breaks heavier elements down to lighter ones.

In that case, and since it is customary to thank one's creator at such events:

*Ahem ... giggle ... dab at a single, slightly contrived tear*

"Thank you all so much for this award! Mom, Dad, even though you guys were dead before I joined Atheist Nexus. And pretty much hated me pursuing life as an Atheist. But of course, I'd like to thank most of all the holy trinity of hydrogen, carbon and fission. If it weren't for me being so singularly blessed by The Big Bang, ... *contrived, choking back of tears* ... I could never have evolved from single cell, to vertebrate, to Internet dork."

*Applause. Host attempts to take mic from Jo*

"Oh, and thank you lunar gravity for making the climate on my planet so awesomely optimum for carbon-based intelligent life. Woo-hoo! Praise be to that big-ass chunk of rock in our nighttime..."

*Host manages to grab mic while security escorts Jo from the stage*

Ok. You guys had me a little paranoid. "I said something to show up Mojo? I won something and didn't know it? Should I apologize? I've fallen behind ... what did I miss? Ahhhh!!!! What did I do????"

So ok. Turns out I'm an annoyingly frequent poster. Mystery solved!

@ Jason Re: letter to the editor. Snopes says that it was a hoax by the author but that the sentiment is quite real. Link:

The withdrawal by the paper has a sting in its tail though:

In two days, we receive more than 30 letters. Some were angry with her. Some were angry with us. They said we should be ashamed of ourselves for printing it, and that we would never have done that if it were about blacks or Jews. Theyre right, we wouldnt have. However, to be an atheist, you make a conscious choice.

They are saying I choose to be an atheist. Should I just lie? Pretend to be a theist? Choose to believe? Or should I just bash myself on the head with a hammer until I'm dumb enough to believe their shit?

I felt like writing the paper a letter explaining this but it feels pointless so I allowed myself to be overcome by warm, lazy indifference. MMMM indifference. :) Like they'd care what someone from Australia thinks about an article from 200. If it was my local paper I would be correcting them closely though.

@ Richard J:

They were told to keep the phones on, but on silent, for the blessing. Because, you know, God can't bless electronics that are turned off.
