Atheist News Podcast Project

Hey guys.

I probably shouldn't put this off anymore, so I'm just going to jump on it and improvise. I'm pretty sure the show is over. It was a ton of fun doing it, but with work and my son and my wife in school I simply don't have time to do it anymore.

Other folks have offered to take over but I don't really feel comfortable with that. Quit while you're ahead, sez I.

Anyhow, I payed for another year of hosting, so the archive of podcasts will be available for at least that long.

I really enjoyed podcasting, so I might do something again in the future. I'll keep you posted.

Thanks guys and gals! It was AMAZING.

I think the word you intended was 'mystique'.

I haven't seen many videos or heard all that much audio of her. What little I've heard came from documentaries about her kidnapping and death. Other then that I don't particularly know all that much about her. Thus as I said how hard would it be to make any of us seem negative from careful compiling of our life's work in regards to atheism.

"Shrill and annoying"

Wow, how different our perceptions are!!! When I listen to her I find her voice low enough that she sounds male! I don't find her annoying either... hmm, human perceptions... so unreliable!

Comment by Christopher Baughman on March 27, 2011 at 4:48am
What vids I saw of her have done an excellent job of making her seem shrill and annoying. But then again how hard would it be to compile footage like that of ourselves if we became prominent spokespeople for atheism?

You've got me on all issues. Whether she was a thief, cheat, a charlatan, can be a figment of someone's imagination. She just sounded like a tough cookie. I do stand on my choice of the word manipulation. The several articles I read and my memory of her fits that descriptor. I don't know why I used the word "mystic". That is not what I perceived from the articles and it is not what I would state as an attribute of hers. The murder certainly was a mystery, especially after discovering what happened to her and her family. Anyway, I stand corrected and yield your points.

The campaign of hate that was raged against her because she dared be feminist, atheist, sexual, and eccentric, years before it was cool to be even ONE of those, would insure most internet resources be heavily weighted against her. I would not trust the internet to provide a fair assessment of who she was. She seemed like a brutally direct and candid person, IMO, those are not the characteristics of manipulative people. Manipulators are smooth talkers and wildly popular. I don't think her murder gives her 'mystic'??? I look at it as simply being grizzly and mishandled by authorities, as is the norm when activists are murdered. In this regard I salute all activists in the good ole USA cuz to be a TRUE activist there will get you killed, so it takes quite a bit of guts. You know you're not a democratic country when ...

I've just finished reading some things about her on line and she sounds like an ambitious manipulator. I couldn't get the tapes, I got adv. instead. Would very much like to hear her speeches or read her writings. If she was as bad as on line articles described her, it is no wonder people treat atheists with trepidation. Her grizzly death just adds to the mystic. If anyone finds some good material let me know.

Ohhhhhhhh.  Nice.  I should look up some of her stuff.  I've heard a lot about her, but I've never actually heard from her.

oops. It was an excellent mp3 of a talk of Madalyn Murray O'Hair called Consider the Atheist.
