I guess it had to happen sooner or later. Atheists have invaded the comic book world... and save it! I spotted a story about it on PZ Myer's Pharyngula blog. It'scalled Dark Reign: The List -Wolverine. In it, Wolverine and two atheist anti-heroes battle zombies and an army of "brain-dead religious freaks."
I still read the d*mned things myself on occasion. The last one I developed an enthusiasm for was Kurt Busiek's Astro City series. They had, for comic books anyway, unusually well-thought-out storylines and writing.
If I want a belly-laugh though, I can always pick up a Chick tract.
;)
If adamantium was only half as effective with religozomby as silver is with lycanthropy, I'd start prospecting for it at once. I'm not that optimistic, though.
1) How the hell are you an atheist in the Marvel universe? Anyone remember Thor or Galactus? I mean, if I'm standing next to Thor as he bashes in the heads of my enemy, I'm going to believe he exists.
2) Wow, what stupid reasons for being atheists. I know you pointed them out in the article, but why does it somehow require the superpower of unbelief to be an atheist? Oh wait, that's because you'd have to be blind to not accept the supernatural in the Marvel universe. Blindness is a superpower! Good job Daredevil!
LOL! Good points all, Stephan. Something else that grated on me was Fantomex's statement about being incapable of believing in anything greater than himself. What baloney! And what was the writer thinking!? That line comes straight from the accusation theists are always throwing at us that we don't believe in God because we think of ourselves as gods.
Is it any wonder I called the dialogue sophomoric?
It might be sophomoric, then again it may be someone writing from a theist position about atheists. One person may have come up with the idea, and a second one been tasked to write it...or perhaps it is just an irreligious theist.
Weird, whatever it is. It kind of reminds me of Bamboozled, putting a black man in black-face is a step in the right direction...right? *facepalm*
Honestly, one of them could "rift" all she wants, and neither I nor my wife would be that upset. The other one is a big wimp. She's not likely to make a stink over it. She'll just pray harder. She's good at compartmentalizing that way.
It is true that many people take the path of religion to lead them out of destructive life styles.
It is also true that people can do the same thing without a reliance on faith (you just don't hear about it as much).

I thought it was utterly brilliant that he said Abbot's offer of a billion dollars for Hobart hospital was immoral!
His refusal of such a ridiculous bribe iis one of the first moral acts I've ever seen from a politician. Clearly the man will have a…
I've seen posts about the 50 commandments of jeebus put out by xtians that cite chapter and verse and you really don't need a commentary to go along with them.
Boy it sure does kill the whole GOP/Tea Party platform.
