personally I wouldn't care about a gay man being in my shower as long as I wasn't in it, but I would be wandering how anyone got into my shower in the first place, and be worried that simply that anyone was in my shower. lol

These are group showers, man. An entire barracks will use a bank of showers that are just one big room. It's more or less the same as health club showers.

That aside ... do we get to choose? I wouldn't mind having a lesbian in my shower. She might feel a little uncomfortable, though.

Ah, yeah. Luke, if you haven't spent a lot of time in rural America, you wouldn't believe how unbelievably homophobic some of these people are.

I don't know as much about Australian culture, but people from Europe just have no idea. Our fundamentalist, religious nutjobs just have this completely different reality.

Even if you watch American TV shows and movies that have people like that, as a non-American, you can just tell yourself that it's a wacky parody, and there aren't really people like that. No matter how insane the caricature, there really are lots of people like that, in America.

They are, every time I go home and tell the stories of how incredibly stupid the Average American is, as in "Simpson" or "King of the Hill" STOOPID, most people refuse to believe it. They honestly believe, as they have been told, that the majority of Americans are like Europeans, they are not.
