What are your sources for news and analysis?
Feel free to flog me if this has been addressed in small or great detail here. I can't think of good search terms for this question. Also, I understand that most contributions here are someone finding a news story of some kind that pertains in some way to atheism, and posting that story.
This post is not a news story, it's a question about news sources. I don't even bother to watch TV any more, news on the tube has looked like senseless drivel as long as I can remember. Witness such movies as Network and it's easy to see that this assessment is very old. At the time of that movie, which condemned the quality of news reporting, the quality of news was much better than it is now.
Internet sources are vast. I tend to look for sources were I am comfortable with the outlook or amount of detail, which I know results in an automatic bias. I filter somewhat by having some sources sent to my Kindle. Blog formats work pretty well on that device, so I get Huff post (liberal ns somewhat nitwit bias), Reuters, Reuters Science, and a few other sources. Then I use Google News to pick up on current stories, and try to read more than one source, but most are shallow and draw from the same sources.
Of course, every time I check my Yahoo email I'm almost forced to see some senseless drivel about Lindsey Lohan or some other celeb shit4brain that everyone is for some reason fascinated with, before proceeding to my email. I avoid reading the article but would prefer that those people not exen exist.
I'm wondering where people here get their news - I hope it's not all from this group, or from the Examiner.
Spending time today looking at current topics, the non-news Twitterhea from the likes of Sarah Palin's ghostwriter, the nonnews about the nongroundzero nonmosque, the asshole preacher from florida who wants (wanted) to burn Korans claiming to have stopped the nonmosque from nongroundzero's nonhallowed ground, but whose threat to burn the books sets off riots among easily influenced Afganis and other Muslims who enjoy massing on the streets to condemn the great Satan as usual, all of this is more notable for lack of actual analysis and focus on the useless.
I despair. We are doomed.

Yahoo has lots of AP feeds. I pick up some stuff there, and then I scan CNN.com, at times.

I subscribe to about 75 RSS feeds of various kinds -- blogs, aggregator sites, columns, etc. (My reader is up to 75000+ entries in the last 9 months or so.) I'm also on FB a lot and follow promising links that I see posted. We get the newspaper 3 days a week but I don't spend much time with that unless I'm looking for something local. At work (3rd shift), we have to suffer with Headline News so I get more Nancy Grace, Entertainment Tonight, and Jane Velez-Mitchell than is healthy for anybody. About 1/3 of the time while driving (which I do much of getting to and from the soccer games I referee), I'll turn on the all news AM station in the area. Even my favorite rock station has news headlines every once in awhile.

In no particular order I work with:
- The Cleveland Plain Dealer
- National Public Radio (NPR)
- CNN.com
- NYTimes.com
- Cleveland.com (from the PD)
- NBC and CBS News
Those are the most regular sources I get my news from. -

I move around a lot. I read a lot on Yahoo and ABC News. I also occasionally read Christian Science Monitor, CNN, NPR or BBC. I'm not always in the mood to read a lot of news. I sometimes read Live Science as well.

I think it's great too. But we should always seek multiple sources. We are after all human. No gods here :) So, we are all capable of misunderstanding, misrepresenting, or plain old being wrong.
That said I love reading everything people post here. -

I watch a lot of MSNBC. I also am subscribed to a number of organizations that regularly post items on Facebook. Gay rights, human rights watch, Friendly Atheist and so on. Some of my FB friends post timely articles as well.
When I want raw political issues, I visit Information Clearing House. I used to visit Guerilla News Network but I think they charge membership fees now.
For comedy relief, I go to The Onion of course. That coupled with a some twisted blogs sites I visit, balance me a bit. -

It looks like you all depend on a diversity of sources. Others must be doing the same thing. I also go to the CNN website and sometimes MSNBC website. There is also an Athesit News aggregator that I subscribe to on Kindle, and Towleroad, a gay news aggregator. And Slate.com. I still worry about the lack of depth, lack of perspective, lack of context.

My home page is set to the ABC news page. That's the Australian Broadcasting Corporation, not the American. I also follow links provided by others on FB and here on AN. I have various Science Daily feeds through my rss, and follow links from various bloggers through my rss as well.
I rarely watch news on television, but when I do it's either ABC or SBS.
I can't abide what passes for news on commercial television. -

I can't say I have any favourite sources. I used to like the BBC, but they seem to be following most of the other media nowadays by going for sensationalism at the expense of truth and balanced reporting.
I prefer to read articles that provide links to the original sources of the story so I can verify the substance of the article and go more in depth if I want to. But then who has the time to follow every story up? -
