This seems topical, since we have several Objectivists floating around.

Ayn Rand took government assistance while decrying others who did t...

Noted speed freak, serial-killer fangirl, and Tea Party hero Ayn Rand was also a kleptoparasite, sneakily gobbling up taxpayer funds under an assumed name [note: it might have been her legal name] to pay for her medical treatments after she got lung cancer.

tea-party-john-galt.jpgAn interview with Evva Pryror, a social worker and consultant to Miss Rand's law firm of Ernst, Cane, Gitlin and Winick verified that on Miss Rand's behalf she secured Rand's Social Security and Medicare payments which Ayn received under the name of Ann O'Connor (husband Frank O'Connor).

As Pryor said, "Doctors cost a lot more money than books earn and she could be totally wiped out" without the aid of these two government programs. Ayn took the bail out even though Ayn "despised government interference and felt that people should and could live independently... She didn't feel that an individual should take help."

But alas she did and said it was wrong for everyone else to do so.

I like the part under the 'serial-killer fangirl' link.  Her concept of a real man is great.

I don't think I'm greedy for wanting to keep my own shit, or an asshole, which is just a bad metaphor for when you can't think of something relevant to say, but I'll go with self-centered.
I already called him that!  Get your own description!
You certainly could have.

JD,

Bitch all you want, taxation is still taking my money by physical force against my will. Any socialistic tendencies are first and foremost an immoral attack on the individual. You are saying that I do not have a right to my own life. You want me to agree to give my means of life, but I don't want to. So to have it, you must vote with the rest of the mob and take it by force. You are saying that my life partly belongs to you. Disgusting.

Cry me a river. I am willing to pay for anything I use. Anything. I'll even tip very well.
If I use them. I don't think they need to be 'public'. Or mandatory. Paid citizenship. Voluntary taxation. Pay as you go. I don't know, but not abject slavery. We can do better than bullying people into giving up their stuff.
Rich get richer. Poor get richer. Not anarchy. I do believe government should monopolize retaliatory physical force, have laws courts and protect from foreign aggressors. But should let other smaller communities and private companies build roads, teach their children and so on. People pay for what they get and get what they pay for. They get what they earn and they earn what they get. No one steals from anyone else or they go to jail. And that includes the government. No one stealing.
So Texas should be allowed to teach creationism and that this country was founded as a Christian nation?
Or you could defend yourself from threats.  I think that's a rational place to start.  The whole notion that you would outsource your personal safety to the state is repugnant.  The police do not protect you, and are not duty bound to do so.  The supreme court has even ruled that the police are not duty bound to protect the citizenry.
So the constitution is mob rule?  You want to be part of a society you follow the rules.

Democracy that allows for wealth redistribution is, yes, absolutely mob rule. The majority voting away my personal individual and property rights is wrong.

To be a part of society you must follow the rules. That's why I pay taxes. I'm just saying, it's immoral and weak to feed off other people's shit to live. If you wanted to live in some god-king like society back in the day, you couldn't look the pharaoh in the eye. It's not right, but I wouldn't do it. I'd follow the rules so I wouldn't be killed or turned into a slave.

Not acceptable to me. It's such an unbelievable waste of effort.
