Surprise! A priest in the news who did not molest children

Father Kevin Gray, a priest at Sacred Heart Church in Waterbury, Connecticut, does not have sex with children. He only has sex with consenting adult males. Since he's a Catholic priest that, you may think, might be enough to get him in trouble. As it turns out though, that's far from his biggest problem. Today (July 6) the 64 year-old Gray is expected to be arraigned in Waterbury Superior Court and charged with siphoning off $1.3 million from church coffers over the last 7 years. The money was used to finance a lavish, secret lifestyle that included purchasing Armani and Brooks Brothers suits, stays at the Waldorf-Astoria and similar high class hotels, as well as the services of a number of male escorts. He also paid for rent and college tuition for two of his male friends.

I think I am misunderstood a LOT here could you please explain to me more clearly. example: what does arraigned mean? whats the waterbury superior court? siphoning means leeching or taking right? what is armani and brooks brother suits? whats the waldorf-astoria?

Arraigned means being brought before a judge and charged with a crime. Waterbury is a town in Connecticut. Superior Court is where the judge is. Siphoning, in this case, means embezzliing or stealing. Armani and Brooks Brothers are high-class clothing manufacturers. The Waldor-Astoria is a high class hotel and no, I don't think the homosexuality is bad. It's just that, considering the Church's position on it, it's amusing that a priest would use it as a reason to steal from the Church.

I will give the guy props however for paying for college for a couple of his boy toys.

Wish some priest would siphon off some of the Church's riches and pay my tuition. Just, without the having-to-have-sex-with-him bit.
