Right-Wing Crazies Who Fight Witchcraft and Demons Are Taking Over a State Near You

A radical, right-wing charismatic evangelical movement is burrowing into the power structures of major American cities and states.

They claim to be able to raise the dead and cause miracles, such as the multiplication of Thanksgiving turkey dinners. They burn "witchcraft items" and "idols." They hold mass exorcisms to cast out alleged evil spirits they say cause lust, pornography, addiction, homosexuality, bisexuality, and perversion. They claim to be able to heal HIV, AIDS, Hepatitis C, Glaucoma, and cancer, and to break "generational curses" and "witchcraft curses." Who are they? Here are a few overviews (bonus links below).

They compare opponents of their movement to rats that will be exterminated and one of their leaders has predicted that the regime they're working to create will initially "seem like totalitarianism". They're closely tied to the notorious, so-called "kill the gays bill" before Uganda's Parliament. They're behind Sarah Palin and one of their "prophets" has become the de-facto prayer leader for the Republican Party.

While America has fixated on the Tea Party movement, a radical, right-wing charismatic evangelical movement is burrowing into the power structures of major American cities, such as Newark, NJ, and even entire states, such as Alaska and Hawaii. [...]

There's always some group of people trying to make our lives a little more interesting than they need to be. I guess we should expect religions to evolve, as they have in the past to get where they are now. This certainly smacks of Darrel Ray's God Virus! It's mutating and it's showing more interesting forms of emergent behavior. Is this the real zombie invasion?? Where's Max Brooks when I need him??
I am truly, truly terrified.
So, how can we counter these assholes? How can we convince the moderate Christians that this is what their religion really is, and that it's time for them to leave it to the crazies?
Shit. Shit shit shit. I rolled my eyes when I found out one of my siblings supports Sarah Palin, but I didn't realize that it could be more serious than I originally thought.
My cousins have a McCain Palin sticker on their car from the last election, I know the face of the enemy and it scares me. ;D
Well, as I have said before, I think every Atheist should become an Activist and possibly a Politician, at least involved in local politics and educational programs. Time for war?
Or at least, a "Second Amendment solution?"
Tempting, but no second amendment solution in Canada. We will leave that to the south side of the border.
Isn't it scary to think that some of these wingnuts could end up with their finger on the button? Just hope you don't live anywhere near the border.
Sorry, it is only a 20 minute drive to the boarder. 2 hours to Seattle.
Eww, major urban center, yeah. Plenty of fallout for you. You're @#$%^& along with the rest of us.
Well, see you, or not so much, in oblivion
