GREENWOOD COUNTY, S.C. - A severely overweight man in South Carolina has died after he refused to leave his recliner for eight months.

Greenwood County Investigators say Tillmon Webb was 33 years old and weighed about 800 pounds when he died Friday, Nov. 20.

Webb tore an ACL in March, but he could not afford medical treatment to fix his knee. Webb spent the last eight months in his recliner.

The former pastor said his faith would heal his leg. He posted sermons online and sent messages of faith through his cell phone.

Webb's wife, Ada, tried to keep her husband clean, but says her husband told her not to call for help.

Ada Webb said that her husband was in so much pain on Friday that she decided to call an ambulance.

Authorities said Tillmon Webb was covered in sores and was stuck to the chair. They had to saw the chair apart and cut a whole through the door to get Webb out of the house.

He died later at the hospital.

Greenwood County deputies said that Ada Webb will not face charges because they determined she had no malicious intent to neglect her husband.

Very sad. He obviously needed help. The only one who could help him was just a deluded as he was.

Honestly, one of them could "rift" all she wants, and neither I nor my wife would be that upset. The other one is a big wimp. She's not likely to make a stink over it. She'll just pray harder. She's good at compartmentalizing that way.

It is true that many people take the path of religion to lead them out of destructive life styles. It is also true that people can do the same thing without a reliance on faith (you just don't hear about it as much). You sound like a very nice you…

I thought it was utterly brilliant that he said Abbot's offer of a billion dollars for Hobart hospital was immoral! His refusal of such a ridiculous bribe iis one of the first moral acts I've ever seen from a politician. Clearly the man will have a…

I've seen posts about the 50 commandments of jeebus put out by xtians that cite chapter and verse and you really don't need a commentary to go along with them. Boy it sure does kill the whole GOP/Tea Party platform.

From the article Tommy cited. "However, religious commentators have criticized Hawking's theorizing, saying he can never hope to explain what is essentially unexplainable." Well doesn't that kind of invalidate their own "god" theory then? ;p

Anybody else read it? I love the basic premise, and being an atheist means I can appreciate the mythology and not get bent out of shape about the multiple deities.

Wyoming is better than the southeast, from what I've seen. It's still a solid red state, though. My big point was that there are no cities. The closest it has are Cheyenne and Casper, each of which are around 50,000 people. The entire state barely…

I was in Panama City this past weekend, but I didn't have any free time. I was there for my brother-in-law's pinning. He was promoted to Major in the Air Force. The promotion ceremony was full of God and Jesus references, and the invocation was give…

I saw a video, or a blog post once that listed all the uncomfortable and illogical things that a person must do, according to Jesus' own words, in order to follow him. The list included hating your family, selling all your possessions, etc. I'm pret…
