I was going to take a picture of the nativity scene on the courthouse lawn in Brookville, IN where I work and send it to the FFRF, but someone beat me to it. Thank you to whomever that was!

Of course, the people who don't understand the law are having a rally to try to "save" the nativity scene tomorrow (December 11, 2010). I just found out about it and do have to work tomorrow so I can't go (even on my lunch break as I'm a government employee, so I have no official opinion on anything at all).

http://www.topix.com/city/brookville-in (To no one's surprise, there is a LOT of misinformation and hate in the Topix forums as well as the comments threads on the news articles. I've heard quite a bit of hate speech over the past few days as well).

Anyway, I was hoping you all might be able to spread the word a bit and maybe get a showing of support for the Constitution.

Brookville is just about equidistant from Indianapolis, Dayton, IN and Cincinnati, OH, so if you know anyone there, please help out.

Word on the street is that Milton, IN (about 30 miles NE of Brookville) erected a nativty knowing that it was illegal but the people who did it (including the spouse of a coworker) said that if Brookville can have a nativity, so can Milton.

Yeah, so much ignorance that these people display.  I love the little gem "I bet most of these individuals will at sometime in their life call upon God before they perish ( die )." from http://www.topix.com/forum/city/brookville-in/T9AO35COTNF8IFDGU.  It's just mind-blowing how many people really don't understand what atheism means.  I also love how they managed to turn it into a gay man assaulting straight people's values.

I've heard people talking about how they want to figure out who filed the complaint with the FFRF so they can "do things", not the least of which is slash their tires. :(

Way to go "peace and love".

The holding of separation of church and state in contempt is something that bothers me to no end. Theists act like they are fighting for good against evil in doing it. Atheists should defuse this in standing for separation of church and state by making the very valid point that nothing good would want to be worshiped in the first place. In this way they can convey that the theists are not fighting for good against evil in demonstrating contempt for separation of church and state but are doing something that is fundamentally wrong.

The FFRF facebook page got hit hard by the bible thumpers today. Thought you all would like to see how things went.

Videos and a poll to crash (I tried sending all this to Pharyngula, but it hasn't shown up yet):

The Xians are very sad that their majority can't keep terrorizing the minority.

There is a Chinese restaurant across the street from the display and the family that owns it is Buddhist.

There is a Xian church on the opposite side of the courthouse from the nativity display.
