That's the good news. The bad news is that Saudi Arabia did win a seat, but as there were only 11 candidates for 10 seats, it was inevitable that either the Iranians or the Saudis would gain a seat. 

The formal title of the board is "UN Entity for Gender Equality and the Empowerment of Women" - hardly something that you'd expect to be high on either Iran's or Saudi Arabia's agendas, so their motivation for wanting representation must be held as highly suspect. Then again, it'll probably prove to be just another toothless UN talking shop ...
