"The quality of mercy is not strained," William Shakespeare wrote. "It droppeth as the gentle rain from heaven upon the place beneath." Obviously Shakespeare was not talking about the House of Mercy, a faith-based homeless shelter in Columbus, Georgia where it's put through a very fine strainer indeed. The folks who run the shelter have asked themselves the question WWJD (Who Would Jesus Deny?)* and answered, "active gay and lesbian homeless people."

Earlier this week they put this grand theological concept to work by booting out two women (along with their children) they suspected of being romantically involved.

Oh, and did I mention this place receives taxpayer support under the Faith-Based Initiative?

Damn man, this justs gets me thinking " when the hell are we opening up our secular shelters?"

I guess they'll kick out prostitutes too? Jesus wouldn't have hung around with anyone like that. He'd have avoided them like lepers...

Heh.

You know, every time I meet a christian they're all about "jesus loves everyone". Also, if you're in a religion wouldn't it be productive to accept in and preach to so called "Sinners"?

This reminds me of this one preacher I heard of one time who told all the athiests to leave his church. Wouldn't that be counter productive to the religion?

I'm just saying.

I hate the noise cycles make. Then there's the Indianapolis 500 fans, the majority of which are rednecks. Interview them or a typical Pacer fan (big news as they face the Miami…See More
