German developer FiAA GmbH announced today The Bible Online, an MMORPG and RTS designed to let gamers "reenact and witness" Christian scriptures.

The Bible Online: Chapter 1 -- The Heroes is based on the book of Genesis, and will put players in the role of Abraham and his descendants as they set out from their home in Haran to do God's bidding and take control of Canaan.

"The Bible Online is developed for players of all ages to easily get closer to the Bible, while enjoying the game," said FiAA GmbH President Dr. Alan Kim. "We plan to service the game in most of the European languages by the end of the year. We will also develop following chapters to cover all the stories of the Bible."

Playing as Abraham and his successors Isaac and Jacob, players will have to construct villages, manage resources, negotiate with other tribes, and engage in some seriously old-school Biblical warfare.

Umm, how exactly does this work as an MMO? How many Abrahams are we going to have running around in Canaan?
My Abraham > Your Abraham
Where do I sign up? I'm gonna go commit me some good ol' christian-style genocide

I was thinking the same thing. Noah's Flood: Where you can watch one innocent child or puppy dog after another drown to death in absolute terror because their parent/owner sinned.
I don't think a game about religion even caters to a gaming demographic. This game will fail and all of it's servers will be taken offline. But if It's free to play I'll get a few good laughs before that happens.

Oh boy, a game that features killing in the name of God...
Just like real life.
