About a thousand village girls demonstrated last Saturday against female genital mutilation.

Judging by the photo, they all look pretty young, so hopefully none of them have, or will be, subjected to this brutality themselves. Cause for optimism.

The only way this stuff will stop is if the women themselves stand up against it. More power to 'em!
I have to go with Glen here. Those on the front lines of the battle are the ones almost guaranteed to be slaughtered.

But the more the group as a whole presses on, the more pressure there is on the powers that be to end the practice.
