John Mackey - the founder, CEO and marketing genius behind Whole Foods - finds himself in an organic, unsustainable mess with his carefully cultivated affluent, liberal customer base after penning an Op-Ed in the Wall Street Journal titled, "The Whole Foods Alternative to ObamaCare."
For starters, Mr. Mackey opens with a line from known-liberal-allergen Margaret Thatcher that features the dreaded "S" word: "The problem with socialism is that eventually you run out of other people's money." Then he goes on to provide eight sensible free-market solutions gleaned from his company's well-regarded employee health care program.

So far so good. Possibility of an article actually analysing the nature of the current hysteria...

The Democratic leadership - and its friends in the mainstream media - seem determined to brand opposition to the president's legislative agenda as illegitimate, even racist in origin.

The strategy is clear: Intimidate people from speaking up or from attending public protests by telegraphing that anyone can be made a demon for standing up and exercising basic, constitutional rights.
To call these people hypocrites would be a grave insult to those who fail to live up to their own standards. Liberalism has never been about establishing a universal standard. Liberalism is simply intellectual cover for those wanting to gain political power and increase the size of the state.

For free-speech principles to be reinforced and free-market ideas to win the day, more people are going to have to stand up and be heard.
Mrs. Pelosi and the Whole Foods boycotters are on the wrong side of history.
The way to stand up to them is to go to "tea parties," raise a ruckus at health care debates

I'm with you on this. Mike Hein ... see how he's talking in his indoor voice? Using big words with big syllables? I might not agree with all of his positions but he's bringing an actual, reasonable, intelligent discussion to the table. Not "OMG - THE DEMOCRATS WANT TO SACRIFICE YOUR CHILDREN ALIVE!!!"
Rachel Maddow points it out well: We have 2 sides of America operating from 2 completely different sets of facts. My FB friend I'm debating this on, I've run out of ways to say, "Show me in the bill where it says..." Jon Stewart had Betsy what's-her-face on the other night and did the same thing. "Here, let's read it together, see, it doesn't say what you say it says." While she's arguing that it still says the Democrats want to sacrifice your children alive.
And her base will watch that, nodding their heads in agreement with her.

That's where the fire comes in =P
Seriously though, I think the bigger problem isn't that their base will listen and protest, the problem is that the useless Democrats are actually responding with concessions to such idiotic claims. They should respond "Person X is obviously either a liar or crazy, there is nothing like that at all in this bill. If there is, I won't vote for it." That's it. Quit trying to get these people to help you make legislation. Eventually they'll chill out so they can get their earmarks on the bills. Until then, just cut them out of the loop. The Democrats have a progressive mandate, start using it or lose it.
As for the particular WSJ article, just point out the flaws in the arguments. Let them explain why the flaws aren't flaws. Explain how people using their health care "wisely" doesn't equal people staying home sick instead of going to the doctor. Explain how cutting taxes on some people helps close the deficit. There is a discussion to be had there, but I've yet seen anyone willing to have it. -

The problem is that civil discourse is dead and it has been for decades. The rot started with Nixon, cemented itself with Reagan, and became a chronic life threatening tumour with Bush v1 and v2. Wedge politics means civil discussion cannot occur. Storming town halls is to ensure this. The fact that Breitbart wrote this CRAP in an institution like the Washington Post shows exactly how deep the damage now is. Just look at this shit, only a day old -

What kind of idiotic, self-annihilating system have you allowed to develop ? There is no solution to this idiocy. It will take generations. It is institutionalised indoctrination, it has become a cult of the worst kind. It is not a matter of simple education - it requires full de-programming of the kind reserved for Moonies and Scientologists.
The whole issue has been simplified to a simple flowsheet here. Will this make any difference ? No. Because that's not the real agenda. There is hidden evil and mind control and whatever else we can make up to terrorize each other to keep things just the way they are. And let the institutional looters keep right on looting. -

I don't have any problem with the WSJ article, but you are right the Washington Post article crying about being silenced is nonsense. How do you get published in the WSJ and then turn around and cry about being silenced?
Here's a weird thought though: is it okay for them to be picketing/boycotting the Whole Foods while the Illinois Fam Institute's actions are being considered bad? -
