Interesting article/essay by Robert Lanza at http://www.huffingtonpost.com/robert-lanza/does-death-exist-new-the...

What makes it interesting is it is written by a respected scientist whose theory of Biocentrism has some validity on the quantum mechanic level.

Basically Lanza believes that the energy our bodies contain (which we all know cannot be destroyed) can exist in a "multiverse" as proscribed by quantum theory and uncertainty principals. Since a multiverse is outside of what we conceive as space and time, we can in essence cheat death and be eternal. (sorry for the simplistic explanation)

There seems to be debate on whether Lanza theories are more philosophy than science but he certainly is not seen a nut. Also, I do not detect any supernatural aspects to his ideas which at least lends some credibility. This might just end up being like string theory--an interesting idea but impossible to test.

Why should we fear death? It is merely nonexistence. It's not like we existed before we were alive.
Beside the objections already raised, it sounds like "1, 2, 3, .. 10,000" -- 4 easy steps to Enlightenment | Nirvana | Happiness | Wealth | Weight Loss | Popularity | __________ with the power of __________ (fill in the blank with your favorite misunderstood and/or misapplied concept from advanced science)
Extremely well said Glenn.

Solid theory, solid theory, fact, fact, solid theory, ... and here comes the gargantuan leap of hypothesis-disguised-as-solid-theory.

Perhaps we all do live eternally in some collective ether. Personally, I really don't think it's as simplistic as that. It's been well proven that energy transforms which is not the same as living on forever. Some carbon atom in me right now will someday live in a plant, which will be eaten by an animal, then pooped out, then convert to vapor and float around in the air for a while...

But does that mean that atom will carry with it every memory of mine? A little conscious me desperately wishing for opposable thumbs again so I can tap a keyboard? Bit of a stretch imho.
Jo: Some carbon atom in me right now will someday live in a plant

Preferably a rubber tree, just so a part of me will ultimately be recycled as latex... I want to have sex in the afterlife!
Jaume; won't the Hindus be disappointed when they learn this true nature of reincarnation?

I can see them now. Billions of little Hindu carbon atoms in various states of animal part, poop, gas, car exhaust and latex, screaming at the top of their tiny atom voices, "Not what we had in mind! Not what we had in mind!"
Reminds me of thetans. Could it be that Hubbard got this right? Ouch.
Yeah - he is "seen as a nut"... by me!
Even if this load of crap was possible it sure does not affect me as who i am. Also what if my brains "energy" goes on. That is just energy and it is always a different energy. By this authors writing I have left some energy that will go on forever in the bathroom earlier today and into my keyboard as I typed this out.
