What is your band?

My band has nine members, and as far as I know, only two of us are atheists. We don't discuss religion or politics, since those can be divisive topics, and we're more interested in building cohesion. I know that two other members also play in church bands, but that's all I know or want to know about my bandmates' religious views.

I'm in a newly-formed band called Philly Rock & Soul. I play guitar, and am also the band's webmaster. We play R&B, Motown, Elvis, and other great music from the 1950s through '70s. I was born in 1945, and this is the music that I grew up with from about age 10. I think of it as "my music"!

I just finished building the band's website, and would love to share it with all of you. You can check us out at Philly Rock & Soul. I made an experiment forming an virtual band called Bloody Mary 5 years ago, virtual because it was formed by a friend in USA and me on the vocals recording here in Colombia, just one song came and is call "El mundo y sus demonios", name in spanish for the Carl Sagan's book "The Demon-Haunted World", none of us was a pro musician, nevertheless we are proud of the outcome :P

The song has 100% atheist lyrics, in the chorus is said "You can see something happened, you can see the myth is over, that in the end all was an illusion"

Cool. You sing of greed and how it pollutes when mixed with manipulations of worship. I hear you. The following is my most direct approach towards greed and worship.

Most people don't want to talk about religion at all unless both parties are agreeing on the main points. The core members of my recording project Peace of Rock - Piece of Me are atheists but only I wrote the lyrics to the album. Some of the musicians we used in the studio I think slowly figured out what I was singing about and then quietly went away. The word atheist is scary to most people but shouldn't be. I checked out your website, pretty cool. I don't mention the word god at anytime during my album but dance around many controversial topics. Please check it out and thanks for sharing.

I play with The Holland K. Smith Band out of the Dallas/Fort Worth area. We play a mixture of Blues, Jazz, R&B, 50s/60s Rock, and even a little surf. Holland wrote "Rock Party" which is a song that George Thorogood recorded and opens his shows with.
