When I had my firts bikes, I rode for years without using a helmet in the city, although it was compulsory (the traffic cops wereunarmed, only for traffic violations) had very old and slow machines…Continue

Replacing a gremlin bell

Started by Mark. Last reply by Kalikiano Kalei Dec 29, 2011. 7 Replies

I have a metric cruiser, and it has had a gremlin bell on it since I bought it. I've never really liked the bell, but a few weeks ago I read the inscription for the first time. It says "Never ride…Continue

It's still winter here, so, I'm about but since the bike is under a tarp, nothing to talk about.

Indeed, I was lucky the car which was actually in front of me wasn't that near, because I might have not mentioned it's a state road with two senses (do you say it like that?). Hahaha, checking in the Japanese girls direct ancestry is not that different from checking in a Sicilian one, hahaha (I know well, being my dad ethnically half sicilian (but mentally 100%!!!). I had a brand new blue 1980 CB 400 N...She was the last brand new bike I had in my life...It lasted my 17,000 Km (that I rode mostly in the rear wheel, hahaha, I had to shorten the chain once then when it got too long again I replaced it together with the crown and the sprocket...I sold the bike after falling in love with a second hand 1978 Honda CB 550 Super Sport, one of the only 37 sold in Argentina, where I grew up. By that time, the second chain was ready to be replaced again, mate! I was a nutter, a 19 years old nutcase!

Oh, also luckily I didn't feint, hahaha, but that's exactly what I did, stand up and check the bike, hahaha!!! I did the same in other two occasions when I had passengers my dad when I was 17 and a lady friend when I was 19, neither appreciated it!!!!

Well, that's brilliant that you've raced and that you've been ironic also! I used to joke about Italian women and Italian bikes vs Japanese women and Japanise bikes, obviously a poor generalisation since I don't know (alas) as many of them as I wished in my youth, hahaha, now at 50 and a lot quieter that I used to be!!!! The "sweeper was lucky indeed, because I went across the road following  my joy and pride, my only thought as I found myself in the floor was "you're flat on the floor, keep it this way to avoid bouncing and nreaking bones!!! Luckily 1) the car that was coming towards me had the time to brake about 5 metres from me, 2) the bike didn't fall in the canal by the road side, it wasn't too deep (about a metre) and it had obviously some water on it...The bike was soooo near that I had tu pull her still on the asphalt to lift her up because it wasn't even the space to lift the bike where she was!!! 3) I only damaged the RHS mirror, scuffed the RHS heat shield and exhaust, and had to change the aluminium (I know you say "aluminum" in the USA, lol) handle bar (replaced with a nicer 1981 Honda CB400 N, lower and shorter that I actually prefer...As soon as I remember, I put a photo of my joy and pride, otherwise you could see them also on facebook!

Thank you Kalikiano! Haha, I love your comment, although I believe you're being ironic saying "only occasionally as temperamental"!!! Funny you made that comment about the bikes, some Italian bikes are "high maintenance also", hahaha (no offence, ladies out there just a joke, I promised I won't take offence if yous girls start taking the pi55 off us lads!!!). as soon as I remember in which folder I put my photo with the Monster 600 I'll post one. Great little bike, low horse power, low petrol consumption, good maneuvrability...Although I wouldn't recommend Pirelli Diablo + very wet and cold asphalt + heavy winter trousers and jacket + entering a 95° turn speeding...Hahaha, I did it about a month ago and ended up at about 1cm from the canal by the road side!!!!!

In my UK years, with one of the best bikes I've ever had, a 2001 Aprilia RSV Mille!!!!
