This isn't exactly about religion/atheism, except in the case of our politicians constantly playing "Holier than Thou:

 

I met a fairy today. She said she would grant me one wish.

        "I want to live forever," I said.

        "Sorry," said the fairy, "I'm not allowed to grant wishes like
        that."

        "Fine," I said, "then I want to die after Congress gets its head
        out of its ass!"

        "You crafty bitch," said the fairy.

Actually, he never had much power; in the beginning, the Big Bang happened by itself.  Then he couldn't figure out what kind of "helpmeet" Adam needed, he couldn't stop Eve from acquiring knowledge, and after the Flood all he seemed to do was a few magic tricks, and order his followers to do his dirty work for him.

 

Pleh.

But I like that graph a LOT!  Where did it come from?  Graph Jam?

Years ago, a superconducting pair of Jehova's Witnesses came to my front door (my wife's comment as I answered the door: "Steve, they're young and inexperienced. Please don't hurt them!"--yet still she pulled up a chair and watched)

Among the many nonsensical things they said (including, "But don't you WANT there to be a heaven?") was an expression of their hope that Jesus Christ would come (back) down to earth and rule over it.

"Are you kidding?!?" I responded. "You do realize that God has an absolutely horrible record of ruling over creatures with free will, don't you? He can't really handle it. It didn't work out with Satan (you know how well THAT worked out!), and it didn't work with Adam and Eve (I spoke about banishment, the pain associated with childbirth, etc.)"

Then I batted them about like a cat might play with an injured bird for another half hour, and released them. For some reason, no one ever came back...perhaps the JW's have a "do not call" registry??
