Atheist Humor

This is the place to post that hilarious irreligious YouTube video, an irreverent, anti-religious cartoon, or other humorous bit of media. Posts that do not reflect an atheist/irreligious theme will be deleted. (Don't make me go Old Testament.)

Lewis Black: The Flintstones is not a documentary.

A slightly longer version of the clip that used to be here.

Which ACA was that?

Should I start a new page for this?  I think it could be hilarious.

*****************************

It is time for the annual Invent a New Word Contest.  Rules are:  Start with a valid dictionary based word.  Convert the word to a new one by one of the following: Add, delete or change just one letter.  Define your newly created word.  For example:

From bicycle:  Change b to cp, hp, op, pH, pa, pd, pf" class="spell" id="sp-1"">p to create

Picycle:  A self-propelled vehicle consisting of 3.141592654 wheels (approximately).

I did NOT invent the picycle...that was the way the e-mail came to me.  However:
Croutones: Little dry-toasted cubes of bread, each containing a microchip that plays music when activated by adding salad dressing or soup.  (You have to eat them ALL to get them to shut the *bleep* up. Or maybe they keep playing till they exit the body.  I don't know...haven't tried them.)

Joseph...that's the way all 12-Step programs work IMO; people stop drinking, or using drugs, but "keep coming back" to meetings to tell their stories about how a "higher power" helped them clean up their acts because it makes them feel good.  I think it can be another addiction.

In fact what they chant at the very end of each meeting is, "Keep coming back!  It works if you work it!"

I went to an ACA group for 2 years; until I couldn't tolerate all the "god-talk" anymore. I haven't believed in a "higher power" since I was in my early 20s, and I had many doubts long before that.

I agree with sentence 1.  I don't agree with sentence 2 ... or at least the implication of sentence 2.  People in poor situations like that tend to cling to religion all the harder.

I'm sure there's a much lower percentage of atheists amongst the homeless population.  People in need are more susceptible to mindless messages of hope.  Churches have known this for years.  That's one of the approaches that born-again types take.  "My life used to be horrible, and I used to be a miserable, mean person.  Now that I've found Jesus, everything is perfect."

They use it, because it works.

Homeless people put god bless on the signs they are holding just so more people will give them money. Im pretty sure not all of the believe in god they are just using their heads knowing that majority of the population is still religious why offend the hand that feeds you right. Its bullshit cuz I would give $1000 to a bum that held a sign saying "I am walking proof that there is no god-and I need help!"

Though I actually prefer mine a bit more on the well-done side.

Thank you.  Most of the people I know get their furry family members from shelters and breed rescue groups, too.  But some people can't resist buying those cute little puppies thay see in pet shops, and usually end up with sick dogs, or kittens that cost them thousands in vet bills, and eventually have to be put down anyway.

I'm sorry I brought this up in here...I know it's not funny, but this IS one of the most-read groups inAN, and I go postal about the "quaint and peculiar ways" of the Amish.

I know this, but as a Canadian, we get our pets from the spca.
