This is the place to post that hilarious irreligious YouTube video, an irreverent, anti-religious cartoon, or other humorous bit of media. Posts that do not reflect an atheist/irreligious theme will be deleted. (Don't make me go Old Testament.)

Tony, that's GREAT! (I wonder what a Jesus fish tastes like...a dry cracker?)

Nom-nom-nom.

Oh! sk8eycat, I like your dentist's magazines. I would go there just to read his stuff.
We have been so thoroughly trained to be "polite" even if it is not indicated. Using social criteria to determine what we can and cannot discuss misuses power and there is no reason to submit to such bullying. The "Polite" bully is just as aggressive as an aggressive bully.

Joan, I went to the same dentist for almost 45 years, and the magazines he put out in the waiting room were Astronomy, Sky & Telescope, International wildlife, National Wildlife, National Geographic, Arizona Highways, and things like that.  Never any religious crap.

But there are subversive companies that go around and put that Jesus stuff in waiting rooms all over the place like the Gidiots.  I've seen those religious kiddie books in geriatric specialists' offices...

But then, back in 1984 the first time I took my Dad to his doctor (after Dad stopped driving), I was appalled at the "God Bless America" and worse glurge all over the walls.  I found him another doctor.  (Well, there were other reasons, too...the guy was a living example of the Frank Burns character on M*A*S*H...a whiner.)

Thanks, Joan, I enjoy writing these Poe articles.

Andrew, great site! "a majority of the beer swilling, smack talking members of the Captain's team want to make Mississippi go from Republican to marinara red just to prove a point."
Cheers for marinara red!

sk8eycat, great idea! Free-thought from a dentists office, who would guess?!

David, instead of boycotting the doctor's office, sneak some copies of Dan Barker's Just Pretend into the mix.  It's s Freethought book for kids...telling thm that nobody can tell them what to think, that their minds are their own.

https://ffrf.org/shop/books/just-pretend-a-freethought-book-for-chi...

A fun book which allows children of "all ages" to explore myths like Santa Claus and compare them with ideas like the existence of God. Entertaining, respectful of children's intelligence, Just Pretend encourages kids to apply the tests of reason to any idea, fairy tale, myth or religion. Ages 6-12 recommended (but appropriate for children of "all ages"!), fully illustrated, 72 pages.

As to the dentist's reading material, boycott the dentist and with enthusiasm and vigor. Where are the Hitch's when we need them?

"Good point - I forgot about that.  You can display it for yourself in EDIT mode, but it doesn't show up on your profile.  Also a good point about videos ... need a display and handle for that."

Not believing in an afterlife does not mean i am a "sad' person.

I work in healthcare in a long term care facility and I deal with death on a regular basis. About a year ago the opportunity arose for me to take a palliative care course through my work.  I enjoyed it for the most part. It dealt with topics such as end of life care, pain relief and addressing the spiritual needs of different individuals based on their religious beliefs. There was one instance however that was decidedly unpleasant, and unfortunately really overshadowed the rest of my time in the…See More
