Atheist Humor

This is the place to post that hilarious irreligious YouTube video, an irreverent, anti-religious cartoon, or other humorous bit of media. Posts that do not reflect an atheist/irreligious theme will be deleted. (Don't make me go Old Testament.)

You're right, I'm sorry.  Wrong place.  My settings are all open, so I don't think people need to friend me to send me hate mail :) or just their opinions.

They can't send you private mail.  They'll have to settle for posting on your wall.

Your initial post might be vaguely more appropriate to the group if it was at least a little bit funny.  *shrug*

Nice straw-man of the liberal position, by the way.

Here's a several jokes for sk8eycat, Chris Dodds, and grinning cat from a conservative atheist.

What is it called when you go from believing in santa (god) to no santa (atheism)?  Growing from child to adolescent.

What is it called when you go from believing the world revolves around you to wanting you parents (government) to take care of every creature in sight? Growing from adolescent to young adult.

What is it called when you take complete reposibility for your life and those around you and expect others to do the same for themselves? Growing from young adult (liberal) to adult (conservative).

It is not the party of "I've got mine, screw you" as you put it grinning cat. It is "I worked for mine, you work for yours."

It saddens me when people can realize that we don't need to believe in a deity to have well being, but insist that we can't have well being without government intervention as liberals do. How as atheists is this not hypocritical? The idea that this group or that group is so inferior and so incapable as humans that they could not succeed, even in the face of fierce opposition or rivalry without government support is elitism at best and bigotry at worst.

Sorry for the heavy post on this humor section in response to your jabs at conservatives. It's just sometimes as a conservative it feels like I'm an atheist hanging out at a religious blog where liberalism and big government are the religion of the day.

To Grinning Cat & Chris Dodds...Yes, to both of you.

T'was not always so; 100 years ago conservatism was concerned with "the common good;" the welfare of our ecology; national parks, forests, wildlands, water resources, AND improving the living conditions of the poor, disabled, and elderly.  Somehow, somewhen it all got turned around.

The hard-nosed xians deliberately began a well-organized, silent takeover of the GOP some time between 1950 and the Reagan administration (when bottom-feeders like Jerry Falwell suddenly became respectable)...Billy Graham-Cracker was always in eveidence in the White House and the halls of congress beginning with the Eisenhower administration.

By the 1990s the most honorable of traditional conservatives like Barry Goldwater were thoroughly fed up with the buybull thumpers, but by then it was too late.  Even Democrats/Progressives had to be seen attendiing church in order to be elected.

Today's far right conservatives are terrified of change...any kind of change, even ones that benefit them.

Next Friday, July 20, will be the 43rd anniversary of "One small step..."  It will also be the 43red anniversary of the day Tricky Dick slashed funding for NASA because of a personal grudge against JFK.  He forgot that he was also hurting his friends in manufacturing, aerospace industries, and thousands of skilled workers, and that his mentor, Ike, had also been an enthusiastic supporter of the manned space program.  All in a moment of spite.

Shall we laugh?

Since conservatives often called lberals "progressives".  Can liberals call conservatives "regressives"?

Seen on a bumper sticker:

Voting is like driving:
Choose "R" to go backward
Choose "D" to go forward

(... even though the "D" isn't an efficient, optimized gear, it's usually better than the political party of "I've got mine, screw you", that's consistently been obstructing progress in recent history.)

Sandi, congress is definitely the opposite of progress.  (And so is the Republican Party.)
