Atheist Humor

This is the place to post that hilarious irreligious YouTube video, an irreverent, anti-religious cartoon, or other humorous bit of media. Posts that do not reflect an atheist/irreligious theme will be deleted. (Don't make me go Old Testament.)

Many pre-Christian religions included fertility rites featuring temple priestesses who were prostitutes.  Christianity outlawed prostitution to separate itself from the pagan faiths, just as it banned knowledge, bathing, autopsies, etc.  Keeping it illegal does have the effect of controlling female sexuality via male strength.  Pimps protect their "girls" from other pimps while exploiting them.  Legalizing the trade would put women back in charge of their own bodies.  Can't have that in a civilized society, can we?  (Scroll down for appropriately droll emoticons.)

@ET Penney.  Surely, more like a fast food outlet?  They may not do it extremely well, but the do it as fast as possible, so the next to be served is not waiting for too long?

Things should only be crimes if there's a victim, but this isn't always the case, particularly when you get religious nuts legislating their morality.

This came from the Huffington Post. Its real news and some may say not humor. Personally I find it funny as can be.

Police busted members of a church authorities say was actually a front for prostitution.

Police claim the alleged brothel generated tens of thousands of dollars a month, according to CNN.

The church's website, which appears to have been taken down, was one of the factors that led to the indictments of 33 people, CNN reports.

"Sex is a holy, sacred and divine healing force at the core [of] our beings" the site claimed, according to CNN. "Once we embrace this force instead of deny it, we become successful, happy and powerful manifestors."

You probably already know about this cartoonist and his online series, but just in case you don't:  http://www.jesusandmo.net/.

Excellent, snarky, cutting atheist humor (or, should I write, humour).

Oh, yes.  I brought back about 5 water bottles full of poteen, and I did some sampling while I was there.

@dr kellie.  Nothing like Irish hospitality.  Hope you got to sample some of the poteen, which would have undoubtedly dulled the pain of having to listen to the music.

Texas wildfires....got this email from a friend this AM:

***********************

The LA Times has a piece on the Texas wildfires including a photo gallery.  I thought the picture in the main body of the article might indicate why they are having so  much trouble putting the fires out.

@Pat, it wasn't good at all.  I wanted to watch something else, but I was too high to choose something different.  It came back to haunt me a few years ago.  I was in Dublin in a really old pub, wearing a pearl snap shirt and cowboy boots and really talking it up (accent intact, and possibly somewhat exaggerated) with all the Irish patrons.  One of the bartenders told me they were going to play music that night especially for me.  Kenny Rogers.  All night long.  I didn't have the heart to tell them that I don't like Kenny Rogers...
