@Laura, actually the entire "virgin birth" myth is due to a mistranslation. The original text refers to Mary as a "young woman", and this was misinterpreted as "virgin".

Isn't it the Mormon bible the one that says god actually came to earth and did the deed with Mary?? How would that make her a virgin then?

Despite some requests to delete the Lynch video, I'm going to let it stand. He's not my cup of tea, but the song is appropriate to the group. He's ridiculously heavy-handed about it to the point where you think he might actually *mean* that crap, but his intentions are good. And in fairness, the misogyny of the piece easily paints men in a less than flattering light.

Regarding the Stephen Lynch song, all folks do not find the same things humorous. And that's certainly OK. Personally, I took that one as a satirical reference to the Biblical proclamations of the "unclean-ness" of a woman at that time of the month. The audience at the venue seemed to enjoy it too. Stephen Lynch sings other songs with religious topics. "Craig" is a sacreligious song about Jesus' brother, Craig Christ. "Beelz" is aka the Satan Song. And there's this one...

I thought the song had negative stereotypes about men more than anything, but I'm not really good at analyzing humour, it's not my forte.
