I googled "pat robertson chile" and I found for example this:

http://monkeymucker.blogspot.com/2010/02/rev-pat-robertson-on-earth...

"True story, in 1973 Chile elected a Communist to lead their government. The earthquake was punishment for that. God hates Communism. Also he is punishing Chile for electing a woman president, for not making their citizens speak English, and for having a country named after a food. And the queers too. The queers in Chile brought this on their country. Every time a hot young full breasted woman kissed another hot young full breasted woman right on the lips while their tongues snaked around each other and their heaving bosoms heaved while their soft hands caressed each other...hang on...what was I saying? Hmmmmm. Oh yes, this was all brought on by men having butt sex with other men. And the Commies. Yeah, that's it. Jesus hates that stuff."

and this:

“Something happened a long time ago in Chile, and people might not want to talk about it,” Robertson said. “They were under the heel of the democratically elected SOCIALIST regime of Salvador Allende …and they got together and swore a pact to the chupacabra. They said, ’We will serve you if you’ll get us free from the the man we elected president, and install a military dictatorship that will make thousands of ‘troublemakers disappear.’” ”True story,” he continued. “And the devil said, ‘OK, it’s a deal.’ Ever since, they have been cursed by one thing after another.”

I was having a discussion on Facebook yesterday about this very topic. The discussion took a pretty funny turn in short time--what we decided was that it would be any of the following:

- Electing a woman president: "I shall permit no woman to have authority over a man... and if ye do, then I shall earthquake that ass!... This is the word of the Lord."

- Chile (the country) is spelled the same way as chile (the pepper) which is hot. Hot = Hell. Ta da!

- Although 90% of the population is Christian, they're mostly Catholic; not the "right kind" of Christian

- It's a sign of the end times

- Chileans don't contribute enough money to the 700 Club

- God no likey the buttsex.
and for having a country named after a food.

Does that mean Turkey is next?!?! Oh, thy stupidity is never-ending...
Hamburg and Frankfurt and borderline endangered too!
What will happen to Hungary?
Hey, it is already starting Turkey earthquake March 8, 2010

Romania, from where I came, sounds like Romaine salad !
I am already interpreting it as a list of dishes on God's plate. Here we have turkey, chili... what is a haiti ?
even in this article I just posted it was written that earthquakes are common:

Richard Luckett, a seismologist from the British Geological Survey, said there has not been a spike in global seismic activity.

"If there was a big increase in the number of magnitude 6.0s in the past decade we would know it because we would see it in the statistics," Luckett said. "We haven't seen an increase in 7.0s either."

He said scientists often see strong quakes but they don't get reported because the damage or death toll is minimal. According to USGS data, the world is hit by about 134 earthquakes a year in the 6.0- to 6.9-magnitude range — or about two a week.
"The point is that earthquakes are common and always have been," he said.
And what about:

  • Cheddar?
  • Bordeaux?!
  • Champagne?!?

And those are just the ones I can think of off the top of my head!
breaking-robertson-claims-God-even-angrier-with-chile-than-haiti
Citing what he described as the “the persecution of a great hero who rid their land of Godless communists” as a possible cause, prominent TV evangelist and amateur seismologist Pat Robertson today argued that the 8.8 magnitude of the earthquake that struck Chile early this morning should serve as a warning to the population that “God is even angrier with them than he is with the people of Haiti.”

“If I had to guess, I’d say it must have to do with Chile’s persecution and attempted prosecution of their great former leader, and a personal hero of mine, Augusto Pinochet – who, it should be noted, had never been convicted of a crime when the Lord called him home three years ago.” The popular host of ‘The 700 Club’ and longtime bingo circuit icon also added, “General Pinochet not only assisted the CIA in the overthrow of Chile’s Marxist government, but is widely credited with personally arranging the meetings of hundreds, perhaps thousands, of his countrymen with Jesus.”
