My wife and I are heading to Tigerton, WI this weekend, September 10-12, for a trail ride hosted by the Embarrass River Lions Club. They have cowboy church on Sunday, looks like another early day on the trail. I'll keep my eyes open for other nonbelievers.

There is another larger trail ride the first weekend of October (every year) in Caroline, WI hosted by the Caroline Lions Club. We have gone to this ride for the last several years. I have seen between 800 and 1200 horses at this event.

My wife and I are both atheists who love our horses. When we participate in weekend trail rides and there is "cowboy church" on Sunday, we just have an atheist breakfast instead and then are the first ones on the trail!

An illness and a huge career change in my family, lead me giving up my beloved horses. I had a mustang, a retired racer, and a few fosters. I grew up riding english and western. I miss having horses, so I'll just have to be here as a fan!!

I am a horse trimmer that uses rubber boots instead of metal shoes :)

This is just a group for equestrians and horse fans who are also atheists. Sometimes it can be a bit tedious to go to a clinic or read a training book and have to skim through or tune the seemingly endless mentioning of god and the quoting of bible versus liberally peppered throughout. From my personal experience it seems like western trainers do this the most (Pat Parelli is certainly a good example!) But I'm sure plenty of English trainers do as well. I don't know for sure, but horses seem to be a god-magnet! I remember when I was in 4-H a girl I knew was wiccan, and she honestly thought that if all the christian moms in our club knew she was wiccan, that they would literally burn her at the stake.

So here is a corner of the barn for the godless riders of the world.
