My discussion on the fires link:
http://www.atheistnexus.org/group/hangwithfriends/forum/topics/bast...
Fires across Central Texas have destroyed more than 35,000 acres and at least 1400 homes.
The American Red Cross responded immediately by opening safe shelters, providing daily meals and giving a lot of emotional support. Now, the Red Cross will give residents gloves, boots, sifters, masks, shovels, sunscreen, and more to help them clear their property and search for personal items. The Red Cross is also preparing to provide mobile feeding services to neighborhoods without power after the fires.
An up-to-date list of open shelters and resources for evacuees, information about volunteering, and opportunities to donate remain available at www.centex.redcross.org.
If you have not been impacted by a disaster this year, you can help turn heartbreak into hope by making a gift to the Red Cross. Text the word REDCROSS to 90999 to give $10 to Disaster Relief, or go to www.redcross.org to give even more.
Comment by Don Rhoades on August 29, 2011 at 10:33pm No, I guess we don't use this. We have several active groups on Facebook, which works well for us.
Stop in and say Hi at one of our meetings, OK?
Hi Don.
I think I should of been more clear on my statement. I know the ACA is busy, I'm actually from Austin and I listen to the Non-Prophets and Atheist Experience.
I was talking about this online group. I noticed that there had not been a post here since June and there were no new discussions. I was just trying to get some members to post things. I drive by the streets you adopt -- by the way.
You all are doing a great job! Keep up the good work. I'm a big fan of the shows.
