The Origin of "Simon's Cat"

that's wild!  I've never seen a Sofa Bison before.  I love it!

LOL, indeed.  After my mother graduated from a walker to a cane, (after a bone graft in her leg), she got a 4-footed can so that she could let go of it anywhere, and it wouldn't fall down. One of our cats was fascinated with it...she may have thought it was some strange animal with a very long neck.

Cricket would approach it cautiously, with her belly on the floor, and do that thing that I've only seen cats do...pat at one of the legs with her paw turned pink side up.  Wish I had a picture was so cute!

Loren, a great shot of Morris and Garfield, I think I have their correct names. In any event they look like healthy, happy cats, with well trained people.

In the OT, YHWH keeps telling his people to kill everything that breathes in the "cities" they conquer...because cattle, horses, women, and children are all the property of the men involved.

I like Robert Ingersoll's question about the plagues of Egypt: If YHWH killed or incapacitated every animal in Egypt, where did the 600 charioteers find any horses to pursue Moses and his troupe?

Then there's the flood...there could not have been enough of anything, except bacteria, on that silly boat to regenerate the species after the "flood."  PLUS all the fish and marine mammals, plankton, shellfish, etc would have perished.  The entire food chain would have been wiped out.  EVERYONE aboard that rickety craft would have starved, or frozen to death, once it grounded atop Ararat. That's the kind of stupidity you get when a tribe of desert nomads invents folk tales about a world they know nothing about.

I have several friends who quit going to Sunday school when they were very young because they were told their pets would not go with them. I was never taught that drivel; I quit going to sunday school and church because I wanted a day off ....and my parents let me.

(And every time one of my cats has died in the past 25 years, somebody always send me that sappy "Rainbow Bridge" card.  GAG me!  As far as I know Bifrost was only for war heroes.)

Idaho--Because animals have no souls, of course. Although god's treatment of animals is pretty crappy in general. Only people take care of animals in any benign way. (Of course, god's treatment of poor people isn't much better than his treatment of animals.)

Felaine, It's hard to understand why those those expecting to be raptured, don't think god would take care of their pets.

We had some kind of spotted cat as a permanent "guest" at the Cat Hotel, and he also loved to "kill rolls of paper towels.  (He also did other things that weren't so funny...we had a VERY difficult time finding a Forever Home for him, but we finally did.)

I forgot to add to the comment about cats rubbing their faces on books, and stuff, that one November I took a box of "seasonal" cards on a week-long cat-sitting job so I could get them addressed before Dec. 1.  I got up one morning to find the cards and the envelopes all over the floor, and each on had exactly one set of fang marks embossed in a corner.  I laughed (which made Ballllzac huffy), and sent the cards out the way they were.

When I was growing up, we had 2 cats who would eat my homework. My teacher laughed so hard when she read the note from my mom. Of course, my mom only would let me use that excuse once, never left my homework out again.

LOL!  I keep a stack of "comfort" and reference books by my bed, and all the cats I've lived with since the stack began have loved to rub their faces against particular volumes.  The late Jerry-cat preferred Dan Barker's Godless, and Pumpkin is now working on Losing Faith in Faith.  He also likes Christopher Hitchens' The Portable Atheist...which is less portable than a MacBook!

I can't remember ever having a cat that chewed paper, but I did have a big black kitteh about 30+ years ago who loved to pull Kleenex tissues out of the box, and shred by one.
