Comment by Patricia on August 25, 2012 at 1:07pm I had sciatica for several years where the pain went right down to my toes & incredibly agonizing!! I had a completely crushed disc & ended up with surgery after a year or so of physio which didn't do much. I now have permanent damage to the sciatic nerve, but that operation was the best thing I ever did, & that was in 1998.

Love Dr. Tinycat sk8eycat!
Comment by Idaho Spud on August 25, 2012 at 7:44am Sorry about your lumbago Chris. Not fun at all. However, I would have liked to see the expressions on your cats. That was probably funny.
THAT helps, thanks Sk8eycat! I think lumbago and sciatica are about the same; both with screaming nerve ends. I haven't seen a specialist because I can hardly use public transport just now (and haven't got a car), and in a few days everything calms down and I'll wonder why I should go to a specialist. But the grabber gadget is a good idea, I'll try to get one - and must remember to store it in a place where I can get it the next time...
Comment by sk8eycat on August 25, 2012 at 2:53am Chris, is "lumbago" the same thing as lower back pain or sciatica? Does it happen often, and have you seen an orthopedic specialist about it?
I have a gadget that helps me grab things from the floor and/or from high places. I think you can get them from medical supply stores...or your doctor can order one for you.
In the meantime, does THIS help?

It's Saturdaymorning here and the cats thought I was crazier than ever yesterday. I got a attack of lumbago - could hardly move - and when feedingtime came we were in the kitchen, but I couldn't pick up the bowls and I couldn't reach into the cupboard to get the catfood. You should have seen those catfaces: surprised and indignant! Peace was restored by a kind neighbour.
Love that Patricia! LOL
