Comment by sk8eycat on August 28, 2011 at 1:49am @ Thanks, yes. Mr. Thom arrived around 9AM, washed the dust, cat hair, etc out of the filter, made some adjustments, et voila! Cool air!
He's coming back Monday to do a complete check-up. Both cats have perked up, but Jerry still doesn't seem to be drinking enough. I'm feeding them canned food with a lot of gravy in it, just in case... Now I need to catch up on 2 nights worth of sleep. My mattress soaked up so much heat during those 2 days that it didn't cool off atnight, Felt like a just-used ironing board.
How in the world did we llive without A/C? I was in my mid 20s before Dad bought a system for this house, and I remember when I was 6 to 8 or 9 and we had a lot of fruit trees in the yard. Mother spent the summers canning peaches, figs, strawberries. This same house...how did she stand it?
My eyes are falling out, and my fingers aren't cooperating at all. G'nite, y'all!

Comment by Natalie A Sera on September 2, 2011 at 2:30pm Not so happy -- I had to put my beloved Siamese, Supapan, down yesterday. She was emaciated from kidney disease, and although I was giving her fluids, she had started sniffling, and her haws were up, and although I probably could have kept her going for another couple of weeks, it seemed like it was time, and I (intellectually) wanted to spare her the pain of end-stage renal disease. Emotionally, though, I'm devastated -- I don't know how it is possible to so thoroughly love a mere animal, except that as apes, I know we're hard-wired to do it. People have tried to comfort me with the Rainbow Bridge story, but the only comfort I can honestly draw is that at least I had her, and I loved her, and love is all we have, even though it brings the pain of separation. I just need to continue to love those beings who still ARE in my life, both human and animal, and endure the grief.
Comment by sk8eycat on September 2, 2011 at 4:08pm Oh, no. Oh, no. I've been there so many times (including the sub-Q fluids). There really is nothing anyone can say, and it hurts.
This is so corny, but it's sincere: {{{{{Natalie}}}}}

OK. I am venting. My mother died two weeks ago. She was a “god fearing christian.” Before her death she refused all medical treatment. She wanted to be left alone. She even refused to speak with my brother who is a methodist minister. He is a pip, let me tell you! I suspect she did not believe, but a woman born in her time could not and did not state her actual beliefs. This is the opening salvo to all christians; FUCK YOU! I had so many people come and tell…

This probably should not have shocked me as much as it did (especially since I am in Texas). I actually thought my coworkers were playing a joke on me because they know I am an atheist. Sadly, this was no joke. This actually happened.
I work in a psychiatric hospital. The doctors who admit patients are general MDs. (Psychiatrists see patients after admission) Yesterday evening we received several calls from irate parents. A new doctor who was doing admissions yesterday actually…

What do you think of this,
Nathan Young,
No Jason Torpy it is you that should be banned for promoting atheism, a belief that has no foundation in reality and zero proof behind it. The letter was a mockery of your atheist beliefs. I request to the board here that they remove Jason for his unverifiable beliefs in atheism for which he has no proof other than his arrogance. The letter was a mockery of atheism. Atheism is stupid and it should be mocked and it…

What do you think of this Facebook comment?
Nathan Young to Jason Torpy,
for once you and I can agree on something. We should disrespect beliefs that are untenable such as the belief that there is no God. Indeed for me to respect you Jason, I cannot respect your belief in non-belief in atheism. Your atheism comes across as arrogrance, smugness, and self righteous. Indeed after reading "An Open Letter to My Religious Friends" I penned one…
