I've had a Drinkwell fountain for a while, and the three cats we have here all LOVE it.  Indeed, I think all three prefer to drink from the flow rather than from the bowl itself.

The one downside of the fountain is that they DO require maintenance, and yes, that does require full disassembly, which is not that difficult.  It takes typically about 15 minutes for a quick scrub, sometimes with a bottle brush in places.  The filters are also a bit of a pain, but their lifetime is considerably longer than the manufacturer would have you believe (typical).

Are they perfect?  Not hardly, but they do work, our cats use it, and I think it's worth the effort.

I posted this in the "Health" page yesterday, but I think I need to Copy & Paste it here, too. It's turning into a serious situation, Jerry will only drink from the tap now, and I have to do something about it ASAP:

Does anybody have any experience with CAT DRINKING FOUNTAINS?  Mr Jerry only wants to drink out of a slow tap, and I want to try a fountain since he's 13 years old and needs a lot of water to keep his kidneys healthy.  I lost one sweet kitty to kidney failure a few years ago; we kept her semi-healthy and happy for almost a year by giving her subcutaneous fluids every other day, but I don't ever want to have to do that again!  It was very stressful for both of us, and I felt like a criminal when she finally had to be euthanized.

I've been researching customer reviews of products on Amazon, and there seem to be a lot of people who are delighted with various DRINKWELL fountains at first, but become disenchanted with them after a few weeks or months...they break down, or are difficult/impossible to keep clean, etc.  And there are similar complaints about other brands.

I'm still researching, but if anybody here has any recommendations, complaints, any info at all, I would love to hear from you.

Thanks!

Felaine  aka Sk8eycat

I think your LOLs are wonderful -- not lame Sk8eycat.  I've been looking at your page. Yes, I also like the Egrets LOL.  Nice stories behind the pictures too.

Confession: I stole the "Egrets" pun from a Sandra Boynton greeting card I saw (and bought...after I stopped lauging like a maniac) about 30+ years ago!

I forgot to add that several of them (ocean and swimming pool shots)are from the "Waterblol Fite" in July, and some others were from the "Snoblol Fite" last winter.  Mine were kinda lame.  The mallard in the swimming pool is one my sister took years ago when a migrating young wild mallard took a rest stop to check out the duck-shaped "floater" we used to have.  The next year he(?) stopped by with his mate. Srsly.

I love your LOLs Sk8eycat -- I will vote for you.  I voted on the one that you posted here the other day.  I like the "put the can on the floor" one.  I'm looking at your link now. : )

I've made 145 LOLz, but so far only one has made the "Front Page," and it wasn't a cat one.  Most of the ones I've posted here were captioned by other people.  "Put the can on the floor, stand back and nobody will be hurt," is one of mine, but it's being ignored by the voters.

The only one that made a front Page:

But then again, too few to mention...
