Just to let y'all know: I posted a progress report on the Ceramic Drinking Fountain in the Health Concerns thread.  I think we has success...I actuallt saw Mr. Jerry drinking from it this morning!  That's after 4 days of suspicion and investigation.  *whew!*  I has a happee!

Steph....it isn't exactly a contest.  More like a crazy party.  Somebody will suggest a theme for LOLz, and then anyone who wants to get involved submits LOLz, as she said, new or old, doesn't matter.  (I'm doing image searches for cats in Bavaria.  Not much luck so far.  I don't think cats like to be seen in public in lederhosen.)

There have been seasonal themed "fites" where you can join somebody's team and submit as many loosely-themed LOLz as you can create, but I've never figured out which team won the Snoblol Fite last winter, or the 4th of July Waterblol Fite.  But some Cheezpeeps who are really artistic with PhotoShop submitted some amazing pics.

Just a way to make new friends and be silly, I guess.

Natalie, that was one beautiful animal.  For what it's worth, my deepest condolences.

Sk8eycat,

Thanks for the link to the contest.  I will look it over.

Natalie,

I'm so sorry to hear about your lovely cat.  MY cat died from the same thing -- renal failure not too long ago.  I still have yet to get another pet.  He was part of the family.  So I understand what you are going through.

For everyone else...it's almost that time again:

 This isn't my game; Cyberkedi invented it, but it's fun.

Get ready to make - or dust off - LOLs that involve cats and beer and post the links below. This celebration of mousers and mugs is in its third year, so let's brew some fun!

Oh, no.  Oh, no.  I've been there so many times (including the sub-Q fluids).  There really is nothing anyone can say, and it hurts.

This is so corny, but it's sincere: {{{{{Natalie}}}}}

Not so happy -- I had to put my beloved Siamese, Supapan, down yesterday. She was emaciated from kidney disease, and although I was giving her fluids, she had started sniffling, and her haws were up, and although I probably could have kept her going for another couple of weeks, it seemed like it was time, and I (intellectually) wanted to spare her the pain of end-stage renal disease. Emotionally, though, I'm devastated -- I don't know how it is possible to so thoroughly love a mere animal, except that as apes, I know we're hard-wired to do it. People have tried to comfort me with the Rainbow Bridge story, but the only comfort I can honestly draw is that at least I had her, and I loved her, and love is all we have, even though it brings the pain of separation. I just need to continue to love those beings who still ARE in my life, both human and animal, and endure the grief.
