About drugging the cats, I don't know if that's possible.  So many "human" sedatives, pain-killers, and tranquilizers either don't work at all on cats, or they are completely lethal. The last time I had a cat who was in pain but still not emotionally ready to die, his vet told me there still wasn't much of anything I could give him that wouldn't make things worse. That was last year.  He still was fighting to stay alive when I finally had him euthanized, but by that time he couldn't even swallow water.

Oh, damn!!  I miss him SO much, even though we still have 2 cats; Jerry was Special.

But I just don't think the Japanese, as weird as they are about "theme" cafes, would have a drug that would make the cats in those places as calm as they seem to be without marketing it.

My own observation has been that when cats are in a large group, they are more relaxed (if no one is in "season," or they are all neutered and don't care).  When I worked at the Cat Hotel, I could sometimes handle, and even give meds to, cats that we had been warned would probably struggle and scratch if we tried to hold them.  They were all in the same big room, but not physically together; each had a large 3-level "condo," and they could see, hear, and smell each other.

Some boarding catteries do let their "guests" mingle.

I have photos I took of the inside of the Hotel, but I haven't scanned them into my 'puter yet.  It was a very special place till the second owner let it get dirty...and worse.  I didn't ever work for her, and now I'm glad; NObody could get her to understand that cleanliness was vital.

The Cat Cafes article is interesting, but I feel sorry for the 2nd and 3rd cafe cats, as well as the people that pay for what sounds like a negative experience.

I do make signatures with text, & add pics to emails, but don't make a signature with a pic.

Thanks.  I never explore all those gears and other bells and whistles...I'm always afraid I'll screw something up.  I guess that's why my MacBook scares me so....all the instructions are on the hard drive, and I just have to explore...aaack!

(those "This & That for Dummies" books don't do jack for me!  I have one from when I was taking a Lotus 1-2-3 class in the mid 1990s, fer shirts sakes.  Didn't help then, either.)

Sk8eycat and Patricia, how to add a picture to a signature depends on your email system.

In Yahoo Mail, you can go to the gear icon in the upper right, then Settings, then Writing email. Under "Signature", choose "Show a rich text signature", and copy-and-paste the picture into your signature (adding whatever else you like).

In Thunderbird, you can specify a signature under Tools > Account Settings. You can either put some text right there on the settings page, or "Attach the signature from a file instead (text, HTML, or image".

Most other programs and web services should have a similar setting.

I put it in my "Animals" folder, and I can copy & paste it to e-mails from there.  She really reminds me of my favorite line from my favorite movie (the original 1967 "The Producers")

"Well!  Talk about BAD taste!"

I add all sorts of these little things to my emails, but as for making a signature......who knows.

Oh, Patricia!  I need to figure out how to use "Snooty Cat" for a signature!  I love it/her!  (Our black cat looks nothing like that, she's so fat that she flaps when she runs.  She was that way when we got her, but I think she's gained more weight since she moved in.)

Right on, Idaho Spud, Grinning Cat and booklover! Thanks to all.
