I got my very first cat when I was 38 -- I had bad allergies when I was in my late teens and 20's and told I couldn't have animals. Then I got tested again when I was 38, and the doc said I wasn't allergic at all, and that did it! When my friend adopted a pregnant cat who had 4 adorable kittens, I just had to have one. So I adopted my precious cream tabby, Theaulait (French for Tea with Milk -- because that's what color he was), and loved him for almost 13 years. When he died, I was almost in a state of panic -- not just because I had lost my little love, but I couldn't BEAR the thought of being catless! So I immediately went out hunting for kitten -- found a drug addict who was breeding moggies for drug money -- and was stupid enough to rescue 3 cats from his house when he was evicted. I gave one away to a friend, but still have 2 of them, who are now 12 years old. Plus 6 others. People think I'm a crazy cat lady, but I'm comfortable with that number, and they are my beloved family! :-)

This is a great place for me!  So glad I just found this group!  : ) I am always on the "I Can Has Cheezburger" site.  And, like you all, I have a love for cats.

@Steph S.  Welcome!  I'm getting a little miffed with Cheezburger...they keep pushing their other web sites, especially MemeBase, and that one is not very funny, IMNSHO.  Another good site is Cats in Sinks...and that's all it is, photos of cats in sinks.

And Maru's videos on YouTube.  I love to see him belly-surfing across the floor in an empty 6-pak box.

Sk8eycat, I will have to check on that Cats in Sinks website and Maru's videos.  Yes, Prog Rock Girl, http://www.stuffonmycat.com is still around -- I just checked it out -- thanks for the tip. : )

I had a cat who one day sat for hours and hours with a checker on his head...

"Don't breed or buy while homeless cats (and dogs) die!"

reason # 4 to adopt a kitty they love you forever

Sk8eycat -- that is good advise.  We all should adopt an animal instead of breeding or buying the animal at the pet store.

Rescuing is also good...all my cats were abandoned by someone else. Actually I haven't gotten a kitten in years b/c there are so many adult cats in need of a home.

Death of a family member

Posted by Larry Taylor on May 20, 2013 at 8:15pm 5 Comments

OK. I am venting. My mother died two weeks ago. She was a “god fearing christian.” Before her death she refused all medical treatment. She wanted to be left alone. She even refused to speak with my brother who is a methodist minister. He is a pip, let me tell you! I suspect she did not believe, but a woman born in her time could not and did not state her actual beliefs. This is the opening salvo to all christians; FUCK YOU! I had so many people come and tell…

Unbelievable!!!!!!!!

This probably should not have shocked me as much as it did (especially since I am in Texas). I actually thought my coworkers were playing a joke on me because they know I am an atheist. Sadly, this was no joke. This actually happened.

I work in a psychiatric hospital. The doctors who admit patients are general MDs. (Psychiatrists see patients after admission) Yesterday evening we received several calls from irate parents. A new doctor who was doing admissions yesterday actually…

What do you think of this,

Nathan Young,

No Jason Torpy it is you that should be banned for promoting atheism, a belief that has no foundation in reality and zero proof behind it.  The letter was a mockery of your atheist beliefs.  I request to the board here that they remove Jason for his unverifiable beliefs in atheism for which he has no proof other than his arrogance.  The letter was a mockery of atheism.  Atheism is stupid and it should be mocked and it…
