Not cats, but an interesting animal exclusive to BC

Thanks for the "Life Hacks for Cats" -- that kitty certainly has us figured out!

I like that video, Ruth, and I get the idea that Dido & Luna have already seen it....

Thanks for the story, Plinius.

You might all enjoy this.

My cat Trissa is really good scratching the sides of the litter box instead of covering poop. It used to annoy me. But now she's too fat to clean her own butt. The clue about when she needs cleaning has become helpful.

Great story!

About old stories - here's one for black cat lovers: father-i-l was in Rotterdam 1940 when the town was bombed. He was at work as an electrician in someone's apartment when the block caught fire, and he didn't know what to do. He decided to follow a black cat that was there, and they both survived the bombing in a kitchen cupboard - later he always spoke with the deepest respect about the wisdom of cats

I don't know, but they tend to walk like ballet dancers wearing blocked shoes.

The extra claws would be handy weapons, methinks.

Comment by Plinius on March 21, 2015 at 2:26am

I wonder if those extra toes are a help or a hindrance?

What is a poly-dactyl cat? The hunt is on.

polydactyl cat, born with more than the regulation number of toes. Polydactylism can affect any animal with toes, but the genetic anomaly is relatively common in domestic cats, which normally have five toes on the front paws and four toes on their back paws. Photograph by Flickr user Actor212

Ernest Hemingway's home in Key Westis, besides being a museum, is home to the descendants of many poly-dactyl cats that he raised and loved.  (That's the only reason I would ever go to Key West.  It's become as trashy as New Orleans....)
