Severed Selves

Two separate divided silences,
Which, brought together, would find loving voice;
Two glances which together would rejoice
In love, now lost like stars beyond dark trees;
Two hands apart whose touch alone gives ease;
Two bosoms which, heart-shrined with mutual flame,
Would, meeting in one clasp, be made the same;
Two souls, the shores wave-mocked of sundering seas:--

Such are we now. Ah! may our hope forecast
Indeed one hour again, when on this stream
Of darkened love once more the light shall gleam?
An hour how slow to come, how quickly past,
Which blooms and fades, and only leaves at last,
Faint as shed flowers, the attenuated dream.

-- Dante Gabriel Rossetti

Leslee, is this an original?

Underground

Tomorrow is but a night away
And in this pitch I would stay
Confined to my chain, my regrets and sorrow
Pleading there be no tomorrow.

It is not mine
It is not promised
It is hopes that have all but vanished
Secluded and suppressed, alone in my bower
Alone forever in my underground tower

brad, nice little riddle, though it occurs to me that humans are often non the wiser for the words they ingest as well.

RIDDLE ~ Unknown ~

A moth, I thought, munching a word.
How marvellously weird! A worm
Digesting a mans sayings -
A sneaktheif nibbling in the shadows
At the shape of a poets thunderous phrases -
How unutterably strange!
And the pilfering parasite non the wiser
For the words he has swallowed.

Leslee Love: It's true that wasn't the whole point, but it's the best part of it and I'm glad you liked it.

Rogue Filthy Punk: Brilliant! I really like that, thanx for adding it! Nice tempo, or beat to it! I enjoyed the part about the maspirin, no baspirin, aspirin. I worked at a healthfreak store once, and I just thought: "this is such a hoax". I mean, I agree with staying healthy, but modern medicine does have roots in alternative medicine, and works faster and more effectively. Critics say it leads to other health matters, but yea, um I'm sure alternative meds do, too; if they even help in the first place (which remains to be seen).
Sorry, I know that was not the point of the poem. I also enjoyed the part about the psychics! Too funny...
