Anyone building/designing an energy-efficient home?

you can try using just clay, sand, water and straws. This particular house was build at the beginning of the XX-th century and is still standing now (but with good maintainence). The same building techniques are still used today

Using bamboo or hemp as a way to build? Remind me to look into that as an architectural resource.

I am very interested in new building technology using alternative heat sources and other products that save forests and reduces my CO2 footprint. I am particularly interested in solar, bamboo and hemp.
