I would like to follow Nietzsche’s brilliant philosophy in his famous book Thus Spoke Zarathustra:

I am Zarathustra the godless, who saith: "Who is more godless than I, that I may enjoy his teaching?"

I am Zarathustra the godless: where do I find mine equal? And all those are mine equals who give unto themselves their Will, and divest themselves of all submission.

New Years is already so secular, I don't know if there is an atheist approach.

I like to have a time each year when I reflect on what has happened on the previous year and in life, and think about what I can do to achieve my goals, or live better, or be happier, or make a better future in some way, or give life more meaning.  Then I like to choose a few things to accomplish, make a plan to do that, and begin the next year with a sense of renewed purpose.

That's just me.  When I posted about New Year resolutions, most respondents said they don't make any!  So I'm probably in the minority!

Great points, good luck!

The best approach for the New Year for me is to continue to live life with courage to accomplish my planned personal goals & live life to the fullest by experiencing & planning new adventureous activities that my family & I have not yet tried. I am also looking forward to reflecting on the next scienctific breakthroughs in medicines & technologies in 2013. I read Scientific Illustraded monthly & the new scientific breakthroughs that are in progress gives me great joy in what our scientific community can & has accomplished. Too bad main media does not report on the positive breakthroughs that are happening all around us daily.

Nice one bro! It's a brilliant idea: "live life to the fullest".

I will continue spreading the seed of Freethought. I will continue educating others.

The Rednecks are coming, the Rednecks are coming

Actually, the rednecks are here and everywhere. Let me say, I'm not a big fan of these people. That's putting it mildly. Need I describe them? You know who I mean. This seems to be the time of year when they come out of the woodwork. Here in Indiana, as the weather gets nice, the motorcyclists are out in full force. I hate the noise cycles make. Then there's the Indianapolis 500 fans, the majority of which are rednecks. Interview them or a typical Pacer fan (big news as they face the Miami…See More

"Happy Holidays is a good enough saying for anyone at Christmas time. I support the phrase "happy holidays" rather than the bullshit most Americans were taught. Let's go back in time to look at meanings here. "Holidays"…"
