Pakistani schoolgirl Malala Yousafzai first came to public attention in 2009 when she wrote a BBC diary about life under the Taliban. Now recovering from surgery after being shot by the militants, the campaigner for girls' rights is in the spotlight again.
Malala was 11 when she began writing a diary for BBC Urdu.
Her blogs described life under Taliban rule from her home town of Mingora, in the northwest region of Pakistan she affectionately calls "My Swat".

And for the moment, she has the support of the people around her and her attack has angered them against the Taliban ... for now. Whether that outrage sustains after Malala has recovered and returns to her campaign against the Taliban is yet to be seen. Meanwhile, the Taliban have stated unambiguously that they WILL go after Malala if she recovers.
The resolve of the bad guys is pretty much a given. How good the resolve of the supposed good guys is has yet to be established from where I sit.
