The Pakistan minister who offered a $100,000 (£61,000) bounty for the killing of a director whose anti-Islam film provoked worldwide protests told The Daily Telegraph he would not resign nor withdraw his incitement to murder.

Ghulam Ahmad Bilour, Pakistan's Railways Minister and one of the most powerful figures in the key coalition partner, the Awami National Party, has been under intense pressure to step down since inviting the Taliban and al-Qaeda to murder Nakoula Basseley Nakoula, the US-based Egyptian Coptic Christian behind the film "Innocence of Muslims".

Since then, his comments have been denounced and disowned by Raja Pervez Ashraf, Pakistan's prime minister, and his own party leadership, with several senior members calling on him to withdraw his offer and express regret.

But in telephone interview with The Daily Telegraph, he said he did not regret his comments, stands by the bounty and will not withdraw it.

Translation: he's an asshole and determined to remain an asshole.  All he is doing is further empowering the imams who are the real cause of the protests and rioting, as they are the ones who are working these crowds up into a frenzy.  It is dubious that so much as one of those masses has ever actually seen the trailer or film themselves.

If the Pakistani government wants to have any credibility regarding NOT being with the protesters, they need to take some manner of official action against Bilour, and the sooner, the better.

Is Bilour an asshole? Absolutely. Is he despicable for promoting murder? No question about it. There is one thing you've got to give him, though. Unlike his western counterparts, at least he has the balls to stand by his convictions. Twisted, sick, immoral, unethical, barbaric convictions though they may be.

Here in the west, it's open season to criticize Judaism, Christianity, Mormonism, Scientology, Hinduism, etc. Say or do something which Islam finds offensive (phony or otherwise), and western nations and their leaders fall all over each other denouncing that which lead to the phony, manufactured, outrage in the first place. And, denounce it in the face of violence and death threats.

Here's a thought. Have the western nations (US, France, UK, Italy, Germany, Holland, Norway, etc.) publicly tell Bilour's government to either fire the SOB, or figure out how you're going to make up the $20+ billion in aid that you will no longer receive. Oh, and instead of Pakistan, it'll go to the Indian military. Suck on that one, Islamabad. Same thing for Egypt, and other nations that promote the mobs to riot against America in the name of their pedophile prophet.

Pat,

India does not receive any aid at all, neither humanitarian nor military aid, so no aid can go to the Indian military. All humanitarian operations within the country are financed from national funds and so is the military expenditure. You still have very old notions about India. Please correct yourself.

Diverting aid from public welfare to military  is exclusively Pakistani morality. Are you trying a balancing act between India and Pakistan by wanting to criticise both?

You completely misunderstood. Pakistan and India are international rivals. My point is to tell Pakistan to either do something about Bilour, and their unwillingness to control the tribal areas in the northwest, or we will throw our support to their enemy, India - which, to be quite frank, I think we should do anyway. Whether that's humanitarian aid, developmental aid, or if they don't accept foreign grants, then some form of south central Asian alliance.

It is terribly awful that a minister seeks aids from Al-Qaeda and Taliban and calls them “my brothers”. Ahmad Bilour must be convicted and imprisoned. His action is completely hostile and unacceptable.

Hello fellow atheists!  I have joined this site in an attempt to find other rational individuals, such as myself, and to promote a current charity drive that I am trying to get going for the Oklahoma tornado victims.  I have managed to get many groups from around my area, including the Beyond Belief Foundation to back me on this endeavor.

I am located in Newnan, Ga and have my own atheist group entitled "Coweta County Atheists".  I am currently being backed by Spaulding Co.…

Pope's 'exorcism' caught on film video

There is a video of the Pope's 'exorcism' caught on film.  The man isn't demon possessed, there are likely no 'real' demons.  He's just delusional and doesn't want to accept personal responsiblity for his own behavior for his own dysfunctional life.

Do you support 'traditional' marriage, vot now ad

There is an ad that reads ' Do you support 'traditional' marriage? Vote Now"!  .

No, I don't support 'traditional' marriage because there is no such thing. I support heterosexual and same-sex couples marry each other legally , yes.  'Traditional' marriage promoters largely do not believe that heterosexual women are co-equal to their husbands.  Their only purpose in 'traditional' marriage is to sexually satisfy their husbands if they can and raise children and do all…

i've got no problem with everyone saying "merry christmas" on christmas day.  however, they've turned it into an entire holiday season where it lasts a month or more.  in those situations it should be perfectly acceptable to say "happy holidays" or call it a…
