The entire Christian calendar is based on a miscalculation, the Pope has declared, as he claims in a new book that Jesus was born several years earlier than commonly believed.

The assertion that the Christian calendar is based on a false premise is not new – many historians believe that Christ was born sometime between 7BC and 2BC.

Is this supposed to be some sort of blazing news bulletin?  The error in the date of the putative birth of Jesus was well known long before now and was mentioned by Robert Heinlein in his book, Job: A Comedy of Justice.  I referred to it here, for anyone who is curious.

Yet another epic fail for Joe the Rat.

That's a rather serious aspersion to rodents.

Maybe so ... Joe the Zinger, maybe?  Or perhaps Bennie the Dick?

Giuseppe - Pimp to the Pederasts.

No, no now, let's not go monkeying with the time-frame, I might say you are a zombie vampire from the 17th century, but as it is, the wise use "CE" and "BCE" (for Common Era and Before Common Era) so that we don't peddle our deity to, say, Muslims, whose calendar is somewhat different.  Pop Hitler Youth has me fooled.  What does the RCC have to gain by placing their imaginary entity's appearance in human form a few years before or after good old 1CE.  Extraordinary claims demand extraordinary proof.  There is none.

I wish I could think of something to say that's not snarky.  To me this is like debating when Luke Skywalker was born.   What is the Pope's agenda in all of this?  I can't begin to guess.

He thinks he's informing the public and therefore maintaining his and the church's relevance.

Cha, right ... and Boba Fett died for our sins...

Go for the snarky, SB. The rest of us have. The Pope also said that contrary to the traditional Nativity scene, there were no oxen, donkeys or other animals at Jesus birth. But, according to Ken Ham of the Creation Museum, there were Pterodactyls, Velociraptors, an Allosaurus, and a bouncing Tigger thrown in for good measure.

That's proof of miracle.  The dinosaurs would have eaten baby Jesus if he wasn't so special.

Another confession of failure by Pope,

Religions and history contradict each other,

I don't know why Pope is quiet about the creation of the world in six days?

Yet at the same time, the RC church DOES endorse evolution.  I think they're trying to be the equivalent of Marco Rubio or something!

If RC church truly endorses evolution, technically there won't be any  supernatural power as god and/or life after death.
