It's a local microbrew. It's probably only available around here. I could send you some, but I'd have to find out if it's legal to mail beer. That's never really come up before...

Thanks for the tip, Brian! Do you happen to know if it's widely available, or do you have to be in Utah to buy it?

To Joe's comment on the elections. Dissapointing, yes, but as slow as progress is, I see a trend toward liberalism, non-theism and a generally rational morallity that is undeniable. More and more people are willing to come out of the closet as atheists and even form groups of atheists, skeptics, freethinkers all over the country. This is our time... our moment to bring America out of the dark ages. Full steam ahead!

Fort Hood massacre: jihad or mental illness?

Is Major Nidal Malik Hasan an Islamic terrorist, or just a sick soldier?

Seems to have been several disappointing results this time around. The intense high that motivated progressive voters in '08 seems to have been dashed in part due to the Obama admin not living up to the hype of the campaign. In addition, all the intense fear-mongering by the tea-bag crazies probably created a corresponding rebound motivation on the right.

It's true. The people who are persecuted generally have to fight the standards. Not to mention that it's older women who perpetuate the practice by forcing it on younger women. I'm hopeful about it.

I know the feeling well (no pun, either). There are exceptions to most every rule, after all, which is why the refusal to acknowledge, much less investigate, such exceptions makes no sense.

I have never heard that distinction being made between ethics and morals. I have heard people use the phrase "your moral values." It seems to me, just based on how people use the words, that just the opposite is true. Morals seem like something more…

Thanks for the clarification, Jo. Now, wouldn't it be interesting if they introduced hate crime law that focuses on the source of hate, rather than the target? Take the Tiller case, for example. Roeder subscribes to a belief system that foments hat…

Your honour, it's obvious that Freedom of Anonymity is a master of pulling information from his rectum. While his source of information might be suitable for Oprah or the WWF, it's obviously useless for those that expect wild claims to be backed by…

If every time a future pedophile was born - a bright scarlet "F" was burned into his/her hands where all cannot help to see it. Then as they get older you'd be able to prevent any child abuse. 'nuff said. That - and anyone doing more than spanking a…

We (the USA) don't cry out against male circumcision because it's 'our' accepted brand of genital modification. We've only recently begun to examine it as a society, as far as I know. We’re still attached to it as a custom and don't see it as being…

I'm sadly not optimistic of the outcome. But hopeful that it will make a difference. Girls even in canada and US are routinely kidnapped. Their mothers/aunts/cousins will even hire and ship in by plane a doctor from a FGM-friendly country like syria…
