My understanding is that voting can ne held in churches, provided they remove or cover all items related to their church (crosses and whatnot). Additionally, they cannot put up signs or posters or update their marquee with any issues- or candidate-related information (pro or con). Also, electioneering is forbidden even if it is not a church. There are likely more rules, but the SC has ruled it is constitutional as long as it is kept as secular as possible. If you see or suspect a violation, take a pic with your phone, note the date time and location and contact FFRF, ACLU, or SCA for guidance.

I agree this is pretty ridiculous. I had to vote inside of a church once. It was unpleasant.

I'm happy to live in Oregon now, where voting is done by mail. :)

I haven't had to vote in a church yet (though I have seen local churches with "vote here" signs on election day before), but I have had to vote in a Knights of Columbus (Catholic fraternity for those that don't know) building, which I thought was bullshit.
