@ Anyone involved w/Meetup.com or familiar with Columbus, GA-area atheism/agnosticism/Brights/freethought/humanism/skepticism groups
I have been informed that the Columbus Atheists Meetup would be closed by 25 Dec if no one volunteers to be the new organiser.
Specifically, "the Organizer of The Columbus Atheists Meetup has stepped down. If no one steps up to be Organizer, this Meetup Group will close and be removed from Meetup.com in 14 days.

As the new Organizer, you get to decide your Meetup Group's details:
Change the name of the Meetup Group
Schedule Meetups
Control all communications
Organizers pay a low fee (about $12.00/mo). Members of your Meetup Group can help cover the cost.

Though the location of the group can probably be changed (along with the name), I would be hesitant about moving the group from western GA. Does anyone know someone in the Columbus/LaGrange-area who might be interested in becoming the new organiser?

Hello Columbus meetup members:
This group will go away soon, if someone does not act.
I am willing to pay the meetup fees. I already have a meetup account for my group in Florence, Alabama.
If someone is willing to take the reins, I will take over the group. Also, I am willing serve as an adviser. The only condition that I have is that you must have atleast one meeting a month.
If you are willing to take a leadership role over this group, I will make you an assistant organizer.
There are 10 days to save the current group. Let me know if you would like to step up to the challenge.

I have taken the role as organizer for the group. I am currently trying to figure out how many of the members are still active and interested as well as reaching out to others to bolster the numbers.
