I'd like to know if there are any Atheists in this group based in Staffordshire? For the past 3 years I've been looking for some indication of an atheist presence in this county and although national statistics show that Staffordshire is teeming with non-belief there seems to be very few people who are willing to make their presence known.

One possible explanation is that Staffordshire consists mostly of small towns and villages isolated by large patches of rural countryside, with large conurbations like Stoke-on-Trent and Newcastle-under-Lyme grouped high up in the northern part of the county, often too great a distance for people to bother with in the south.

It might be too much to expect each of these towns and villages to form their own groups, but if we could get these isolated patches of atheism to establish a common means of communication, we might then be able to progress to larger things, such as regular meet-ups, events and local campaigning.
