I believe that there is no God. I'm beyond atheism. Atheism is not believing in God. Not believing in God is easy — you can't prove a negative, so there's no work to do.

In your first quote, the thing that stood-out for me is "It sure isn't great literature." I hear a number of people say the bible is great literature, but I've read it several times and I don't think so either.
I'm definitely not going to torture myself by reading it again to make sure:)

OK. I am venting. My mother died two weeks ago. She was a “god fearing christian.” Before her death she refused all medical treatment. She wanted to be left alone.
