Free Speech Atheists

This group is all about the freedom of expression, from an Atheist point of view. As the nonbelieving minority in a quasi-theocracy, it is essential to all we hold dear that our voices never fall silent.

Current Group Activities:

Hey all, We've moved to Virginia Beach... We are currently looking into setting up another meet up with everyone.  So keep coming back and post some thoughts.

Meet With US
TBA

**We have a carpool going so if you'd like to meet with us and enjoy a road trip, please let us know.**

Our Last Gathering:
Sept. 16, 2009

We met up with Richard Dawkins to hear his lecture on his new book,"The Greatest Show On Earth." As always, he was well spoken, educated, and humorous. After the lecture, we all gathered in a rather large line to get our favorite Dawkins books signed. It was well worth the trip.

All this followed by a nice dinner with like-minded friends. Thank you Matt L for informing us of the Dawkins lecture.

Not sure when we will be able to have our next meeting but check back for updates.

Well, I would hope that the average person who has had vasectomy would not have complications with it, but those are some horrific stories. Up until the point I was of the opinion that all men the world over should have reversible vasectomies at 12 and would have to petition to have them reversed with references after 24 (just satire, don't hate me as a fascist)...

It was in the name of Christian superiority that 95% of all Native Americans were massacred and the remainder were forced at gunpoint onto reservations and legally deprived of their rights to practice their cultural traditions and beliefs.

Jacqueline, It’s important to understand the Conquistadors and early colonialists before we pass judgment. When you consider their reasoning, it’s all understandable.

Premise: The land belongs to God. He created it.

Premise: These semi-naked savages are the children of the devil.

Premise: God expects us to civilize them in order to bring them closer to Him.

Conclusion: What luck. It’s fine with God if we enslave them and take their land.

I'm sorry you have complications and problems, but I had a vasectomy 25 years ago and have had absolutely no complications from it. I've also had no unwanted children, which was the whole idea.

Jacqueline Sarah Homan: Well, since this is the Free Speech forum, here goes...

While there's not a lot to disagree with, making it sound like it was written by Fred Phelps really does it a disservice.

Ouch!
I had no idea that negative side effects were possible, let along probable. But then, I don't have any testicles.

I understand your point, but as the victim of a vasectomy I can't say I'd wish that even the worst Christian! I've had extreme testicular pain for the last year that's only let up recently. It felt like I was on a constant schedule of getting savagely kicked in the balls like 10 times a day. I've had recurrent infections. I've had explosive ruptures. It's been so bad I could barely walk. Consequently, I'm very, very against the procedure! If it was banned outright, I think I'd have a party.

Now, I have to wait till my wife gets her big $ job so I can get my reversal -- which is anywhere from six to 10 THOUSAND dollars and it's nearly a "miracle" to get approved by any insurance company. And do they tell you about all these potential side effcts? Hell no! That'd seize up the cash flow. The worst they say will happen is achey balls for years and it's way down on the list. So, obviously there is a lot of deciet that circles around this man-abusing scam.

You want to hear horror stories? Mine is tame and I didn't even go into the suicidal depression or the penile blood clot that followed. The others speak for themselves:

It should be common sense that a knife to the balls is a bad idea, but the con job is done so well that few men actually think about the consequnces of tying of tubes that are the equivalent of hoses tied to fire hydrants! Where do you think all that pressure is going to go? I can tell you right now. In my case it busted out the end giving me a very painful condition known as a sperm granuloma. And that's just the tip of the iceberg. For some men it's so bad that they actually opt to get part or their entire testicle(s) removed! This guys story is especially heartbreaking:

Anyway, the point is, don't mess with the testicles. Kinife + balls = bad idea!
