Distrust Feeds Anti-Atheist Prejudice - Miller-McCune

Research finds atheists are widely perceived as untrustworthy, which may be a factor in why they're disliked more than other minorities.

http://www.miller-mccune.com/.../distrust-powers-anti-atheist-preju...

"People use cues of religiosity as a signal for trustworthiness," the researchers write in the Journal of Personality and Social Psychology. Given that “trustworthiness is the most valued trait in other people,” this mental equation engenders a decidedly negative attitude toward nonbelievers.

There is no actual evidence backing up the assumption that atheism somehow leads to a decline in morality. In a 2009 study, sociologist Phil Zuckerman argued that "a strong case could be made that atheists and secular people actually possess a stronger or more ethical sense of social justice than their religious peers," adding that they, on average, have "lower levels of prejudice, ethnocentrism, racism and homophobia" than the much larger population of believers.

For those who haven't interacted with social workers this is kind of a hard problem to describe. Essentially, Social workers have a code of ethics, in this code of ethics, there is a standard of cultural competence. It says: "Social workers should obtain education about and seek to understand the nature of social diversity and oppression with respect to race, ethnicity, national origin, color, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity or expression, age, marital status, political belief, religion, immigration status, and mental or physical disability." I feel the exclusion of Non-religious as a category is getting the way of social workers being culturally competent with secular groups. So I started a petition. http://www.change.org/petitions/nasw-include-non-religious-a-catego...

Well the thebricktestiment.com website has really opened my eyes by warning me of all the nudity, sexual content, violence, and cursing in the holy scriptures....I'm sure keeping my kids away! I'm glad they added a warning for parents.   Addicted to looking at nudey Lego people...what a shameful sight.  One guy in Epistles has beard stubble...a sure sign of Lego wickedness.

Zeke isn't the only foul-mouthed prophet in the Bible. Consider Malachi. This is Malachi 2:3 from the Good News Translation:

"I will punish your children and rub your faces in the dung of the animals you sacrifice - and you will be taken out to the dung heap."
Compare other translations at http://www.biblestudytools.com/malachi/2-3-compare.html . The Lego characters haven't acted this one out yet.

I will now be saving the Lego Version of the Bible as my main resource to the holy scriptures from now on.  It is in my Bookmarks.  I'm amazed at the attention to detail!  Imaginary, make-believe detail....but detail nonetheless.  Check out Adam and Eve...wow.

Absolutely hysterical!  It does bring up the question; Does size really matter?  :)

@Ezra: touche!! It really is hilarious when read satirically. Or in Lego form. http://www.thebricktestament.com/

It's not us making you laugh. It's that satirical book on god called the bible.
